One of the pilots said Navy brass denied their request to arm themselves on base.

Two pilots said the Saudi shooter had 10 minutes to carry out his deadly assault on defenseless Navy sailors at the “API” -- aviation pre-flight indoctrination -- building. The Naval Aviation Safety school is also located in the building.

The instructor pilots said the incentive to arm was obvious. “We need to protect not just the pilots, but our aircraft that are worth millions.”

One pilot called base security at NAS Pensacola and other Navy bases “mall cops,” because protection on the base has been outsourced to private security and many were “fat and out of shape.”

“I have zero confidence the guy I show my ID card to at the gate could save me,” one pilot added. Fox News spoke to three Navy instructor pilots Tuesday.

“Why are we cowering in our offices, it’s insane,” the officer added. "ARM US!!! "

One of the shooting victims was the captain of the U.S. Naval Academy rifle team, an “excellent marksman,” according to his brother.

“It’s so stupid that on a military base, the shooter was allowed to roam free for so long,” according to one instructor pilot. “In a gun fight, that’s an eternity.”

I thought there would be firearms everywhere on a military base.

Same happened on the much larger attack at Ft Hood which became the Army Jihadi's private shooting gallery - he had auto gun ... victims had nothing to defend themselves with

I guess the theory is that with many guns in everyday circumstances something could go wrong.
Also, other than for islam's devout followers , there is no need in everyday circumstances

Perhaps they will change their thinking about that now.

Yes. One would think so.

Keep in mind, nothing changed after the Ft Hood slaughter and it was much larger

Navy suspends flight training for more than 300 Saudi Arabian students in wake of Florida base shooting

WASHINGTON (AP) – Flight training has been suspended for more than 300 Saudi Arabian students at three bases in Florida in the wake of the deadly shooting by a Saudi Air Force officer on Friday, the U.S. Navy said Tuesday.

Navy Commander Clay Doss said classroom training is going to start again this week, and flight training for other students will resume. But the Navy on Monday evening ordered that Saudi students at three bases in northern Florida be restricted from flying for an undetermined period of time.

Saudi Student Charged With Illegally Possessing Handgun, FBI Says, After Tip About Possible Threat To Kill People

A Saudi Arabian student enrolled at the University of New Mexico’s school of engineering was charged Friday with illegally possessing a firearm after a search of his Albuquerque residence found a .380-caliber Cobra handgun, according to federal court documents.

Hassan Alquahtani, 28, was scheduled to get his diploma from the university on Saturday before going to Disneyland to celebrate with his family, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Those plans changed following an FBI investigation into the student, which began after an anonymous person called its National Threat Operations Center on Aug. 8 and said that Alqahtani was “creating a list of people who he wants to kill before he leaves the U.S.

[It's islam, eh?]

Thankfully they got him before he could carry out his plans.

CNN - More than a dozen Saudi servicemen to be expelled from US after review of December shooting at Naval Air Station

Post Pensacola Islamist terror attack US to expel Saudi servicemen for membership in extremist groups & child pornography

The trainees are said to have connections to extremist movements.

Sources told the outlet that some are also accused of possessing child pornography.

"In the wake of the Pensacola tragedy, the Department of Defense restricted to classroom training programs foreign military students from Saudi Arabia while we conducted a review and enhancement of our foreign student vetting procedures," said Lt. Col. Robert Carver, a spokesman for the Department of Defense. "That training pause is still in place while we implement new screening and security measures."

Anybody, and I mean anybody from a state that enforces wahabbism needs extreme vetting to quote the president.
