New Year's Eve revellers were taken back in time for a moment during Monday's fireworks after a typo was projected onto the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

''Happy New Year 2018'' lit up one of the bridge's pylons, with many taking to social media to point out the gaffe.

The error occurred during the midnight fireworks, where an estimated one million people watched on the edge of Sydney Harbour, and a further one billion looked on worldwide.

Only a select few though were clever enough to recognise the mistake, with one Twitter user calling it a "great error".

If that had happened in a Canadian or Israeli city, Bricktop would be smirking. In Australia, and he's silent.

The buzz on the internet on this pointed out that it's simply because Australians aren't bright.

The only beach in Australia I was familiar with is Bondi in New South Wales..

This one looks just as fantastic.

Caskur, make some room at your place. I'm bringing my family to your house and we are not leaving until it's summer here. ac_biggrin
The Russian Rock It

Bricktop

All State capitals are built on the coast, and each one has their own iconic beach with one strange exception; Brisbane. Its coastline is horrid.

Sydney has Bondi (which isn't that great if you see it up close), Melbourne has St Kilda, Adelaide has Glenelg, Darwin has Mindal, Perth has Cottlesloe.

Hobart's beaches aren't great either...but it's never warm enough there to matter.

caskur

I'm going to show you Cottesloe.

It beats Bondi a thousand to one...lol

Remember when Jane Priest kissed Prince Charles back when he was 30? That was at Cottesloe. Prince Charles has been there twice.

Despite what BT, Perth is the best place on the planet... The only way you could get me to leave would be pay me a billion dollars and even then I would say no.

Cottesloe from different angles...  And beaches are FREE in Australia. (god help us if they ever change that).
