A lot of New Zealnders in Australia are Maoris?

There are no such things as Maoris...

It's Maori. No s.

Safety in numbers.

Bikies are shit. They're just druggies and rapists who should bathe more often. Stick them in the Army and send them to Iraq. Revoke citizenship.

God's Garbage or maybe it's the Mongrel Mob...

Bikies ran new gang out of town

The West Australian10 Mar 2018 Grant Taylor

Michael Moke, right, in 1989.

Either the Mongrel Mob have short memories, or its members are gluttons for punishment.

The last time the predominantly Maori gang tried to muscle its way into Perth, they got their butts kicked by WA's existing bikie gangs, who sent them packing.

It was 1989 and WA had only four bikie clubs, who fiercely protected their turf.

So when the Mob declared itself to be a new force in town, it soon found itself embroiled in open warfare with the four clubs, who joined forces to run the interlopers out of town.

The violence culminated in the Mob's vice-president Selwyn Wharepapa being firebombed at his work, before being shot just days later as he stood outside his Swan View home.

Police took the extraordinary step of dragging the feuding gangs to police headquarters in East Perth, where a truce was hammered out. In reality it was more of a capitulation, with the Mob's State president Michael "Pixie" Moke agreeing to shut up shop and leave WA for good.

Almost 30 years on, WA has 11 bikie gangs whose growth seems to be never-ending.

The Australian Border Force's efforts to deport gang members who are not Australian citizens is helping. But it is clear that WA Police need greater powers to rein in gang growth. The State Government has promised a solution with anti-consorting laws. They have worked in NSW and appear to be a simple, effective measure.

It is now up to the State Government to deliver sooner rather than later.
