But teh questions is Brick, are others not willing to make billions of dollars too b/c they think it's really theft, or they truely just don't have what it takes to become a 1-3%?

Hard not to believe he's totally correct.

The inequality is unsustainable.

One possible suggestion for wealth distribution is to allow individuals such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, George Soros, Larry Ellison & others to amass huge fortunes when  they are alive but when they die, they have to pass most of their money perhaps onto the state, public works  projects or charity. They'd be able to pass some of their fortune to family members but not $40 billion. Perhaps up to $1 billion? I think thats fair because the billionaire can still enjoy the fruits of their labor when they are alive, but cant take it with them and the money is no use to them after theyre dead anyways . Also it would discourage bloated family dynasties, the 'Right of Kings' mentality, excessive concentration of wealth and allows living entrepreneurs to benefit from this post mortem redistribution of wealth & to become billionaires themselves until its their turn to  pass it on when they die. In other the social and political system becomes refreshed and reinvigorated rather than being stifled by money which isnt circulating & finding its way into society & benefiting anyone.

Tbh that's something I thought of before too long time ago, which I think makes sense, but chances are if they can make billions, then there's nothing from stopping them from exploiting loop holes or doing some money laundrying before they die.

Most people don't have what it takes to become billionaires, simply because the price is too high. You need to be a ruthless asshole that cares about nothing or anyone more than wealth itself. How did Gates and Zuckerberg become so wealthy? Sheer luck. As the speaker above admits.

However, I don't disregard the fact that people who create wealth for others should not be amply rewarded. If you earn $5M per annum, you will have a lifestyle most can never achieve. Anything above that is pure, unadulterated greed.

Okay, that would be one.  Dinky used the plural, though.

One of the problems I've had in sorting out political discussions here is that Canadians seem to use some of these blanket political classifications differently than we midwestern yanks use them.  For instance, it seems like "progs" are almost universally reviled here, and I often get labeled as such.  But I'm not a prog as I myself understand the term.  I'm thinking that if everyone here is as hard to pigeonhole as I am, then the use of these labels creates more heat than light.

Personally, I am sick of Canada's tired democracy.

I do agree luck plays a role in helping people's business succeed, which has always been very true and definitely you need desire, greed and the ambition if you want to at least have a chance of winning.  But you're ignoring some facts is starting up a large business is many years of hard work when the majority, and practically all the folks in third world countries started off with nothing, while the rest never even bothered to try to succeed, even if they had luck with them.  You might think poor people working minimum wage is hard working but that can't be any further from teh truth, IMO they are only forced to work b/c they have no choice.  Another factor is you're ignoring the astonishing numbers of failed businesses out there, IIRC the average business goes bankrupt in 5 years.

I do agree with the capitalist part, some are traitors, but truth to be told socialism is even worst and doesn't work at all b/c people are selfish, plus what you mentioned is not socialism, but capitalism, socialism is the least fair system that distributes your wealth no matter how hard you work.

Politicians are societies crooks. The trick is not to become emotionally involved. That's a lot harder than you think.

There is no such thing as left and right these days.

They'll say anything to get voted, pretend to work for the people then retire on their lifetime 6 figure pensions.
