Quote from: "cc"Why is Joe allowed to use PI (albeit volunteered PI) continuously to attack people instead of countering their posts? (former drinker, convict etc etc etc etc)

It has become constant of late and is negative .. in fact destructive to this forum .. or any forum for that matter

Yes, it takes a lowlife to do that, and of course we all know he is a lowlife ... but why do we have to view his  constant lowlife antics and allow him to hurt the credibility of the forum?

Putting him on "Ignore" itself is not effective because his negativity appears in quotes.

Newer prospects, unaware that he is unique in his lowlife tactics, judge the forum as lowlife,  and don't return.

He's even using the pedo accusation which the mod here has zero tolerance for.

Can you cite anything about my references to pedophilia?

Im not angry. Just puzzled

When did I make references to it?

Anyway, enough of Joe derailing our discussions. The US is very much a left wing nation. Since FDR, the movement leftward among Republicans and Democrats alike is tangible and unstoppable. There was a brief period in 90's with the Gingrich contract with Americans that this was slowed, but that's been it for many decades. Progressives won the culture wars.

73 percent of registered voters have an unfavorable opinion of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision.

61 percent of Americans support labour unions.

63 percent of registered voter favour making four-year public colleges and universities tuition-free.

59 percent of Americans favour free early-childhood education.

84 percent of Americans support requiring background checks for all gun buyers.

77 percent of gun owners support requiring background checks for all gun buyers.

76 percent of registered voters support allowing undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children to stay in the country.

Gay marriage is legal.

Gays serve openly in the military.

Most states are moving towards legalization or at least decriminalization of marijuana.

Americans are to the left of Canadians and many Europeans on illegal immigration/sanctuary cities.

If how left-leaning the US is was not "openly" apparent before, it sure is today

kitty is outa the bag today

Excellent information Seoul..

East Asians see Americans as very liberal and your post confirms that.

I m glad we are re-railed, thank you SB I like that going issue by issue.

here is another way to think about it--

A. Things controlled by the left--

1. The media

2. Hollywood/entertainment

3. The education system

4. The deep state resistance

5. The house

B. Middle-ish

Judiciary--The left doesn't control the judiciary necessarily, but they have lots of activist judges throwing the role of a judge out the window to resist everything Trump does. The supreme court is center right, but it takes a while to get things there.

Senate--Republicans control the senate buy the republicans are chicken shits who barely ever do anything, so they are not really part of the right.  It also takes 60 votes to pass anything in the senate because of the stupid filibuster rule.

C. things controlled by the right-

1.The presidency (Trump)

--

So basically you have 5 things controlled by the left and one by the right.

The question becomes do you really consider the Trump presidency right wing. On many issues like trade and Social Security, he's like an IHJ type socialist.

Spending too.  the budget he offered up of course will be rejected, but its way too expensive.  I also believe somewhat as Ann Coulter does that he has not given it all when it comes to stopping illegal immigration.  On balance though he has done many things that are excellent.  Although imperfect, IMO He is America's last hope.  I see no one waiting in the wings to take his place when he's gone.

This is something I've thought about before and it's what worries me.

While there have been some hiccups along the way, America throughout its history has been moving leftward.  In many ways that was good, BUT what happens if it NEVER stops going leftward?   Will we become a kind of variation of the Soviet Union one day?  I believe so.

Not just America but western society has always moved more and more leftward, so unless something drastic happens it will continue to do so, and when it goes too far, which IMO we are on the edge of, it will be our undoing.

B is left wing, including the senate. And C is middle-ish.  The SCOTUS is becoming a little less activist, but that aint right wing. That's just slowing down the prog agenda temporarily.

Be glad ya live in Canada IHJ.

Cuz there's help for recovering alcoholics such as yourself in Canada.

In the States not so much. Heck in the states you woulda ended up ln the streets or dead, IHJ.

I'm glad the medicare and our generous social welfare system helped you IHJ.

Me thinks someone as fragile as yourself couldnt survive in America IHJ.

Actually, our CP American employees receive better health care they we do in Canada because they don't have the wait times for essential services. They receive full prescription drug plans, vision and dental care too. Things you don't have according to your story about your teeth rotting out of your head. Maybe you can't afford a toothbrush and floss either.

The leftist movement in North America has not been all bad. The LGBT community pays taxes too. We deserve protection from discrimination.

On the other hand, illegal immigration is only good for law enforcement ans slimy factory farm owners.

I would say America needs a right wing party, but if the Republican Party is too timid to run on a rightist platform there's not much hope for a new party. Actually, America will stay a two party state forever, with the political landscape moving even further left.

Progs in North America control education from K-post grad, the civil service and the media. We are more prog than Scandinavian countries. I can't wait to get out of this prog hell hole of a county.

I can't wait until a big CME shoots out of the sun at just the right trajectory to blanket the earth with technology quashing revenge.
