Quote from: "Fashionista"It's a reminder that I'm glad I don't have large trees in my yard.

Are you afraid that your hubby might get some ideas from trees like that?

 ac_biggrin

In the nineteen years we have been married, I've never seen him get anything from a tree besides firewood.

Thats what I said..

You are afraid that heĀ“ll be getting wood.

Why would I be afraid of firewood.

Aah... Multiculturalism..

Ski-resorts are hiring personnel from the philippines because there just aint enough workers in Finland..

The local kids arent interested in working for the ski-resorts..

There arent any countries between Finland and the Philippines.

"the needs of the worker and the needs of the employer do not meet" aka they refuse to pay a measly 1,6k in euros for a months worth of work.

Our minimum wage in Alberta for 320 work in one month is $2400 Canadian or fifteen dollars per hour..

This converts to 1643.40 Euros..

So, I guess wages are similar in Finland, but the cost of living differences, I'm not sure.

320 work?

The minimum wage here depends on your profession..

You are lucky if you can get 1600euros... A truly privileged worker.

You cant get enough hours in many places..

Paycheck isnt enough for rent and bills... So you gotta get welfare too on the side.

Anyhow... These philippinians get abused..

Less than 500euros per month and they live in some kind of construction barrack for which they pay for...

I don't know what she's babbling about. In Alberta, if you work 4 weeks(160 hours) you gross a minimum of $2400. That's $15/hr.

I made some mistakes..

Yes, 320 hours is two months, not one month.

I missed this. I assumed Finland paid living wages.

The minimum wage is okay..

But you rarely get the hours.

Its somehow better for companies to hire more than one guy for 8 hour shift... Government gives the employer more money because he "employs" more workers.

A lot of people have to still be on welfare even though they are employed..

A lot of people are "employed" in a private company but they only get welfare check as a salary.

Finnish job market is a mess... And its only getting messier with multiculturalism.

We always say that bs like this happens only in Finland..

Finland is an open economy. Why would they do something so messed up?

I don't see the logic in skewing labour markets. Man your wages in Finland are low.

Odinson

The skewing happens when government (who have been lobbied there by corporations) offer companies tax-reliefs and monetary support for employing more people..

A lot of companies are just using free interns as labor.. They have no intention of employing them after this "trial period".. They just take in new interns.

A few years ago, the government gave the corporations millions of euros so that they would expand and hire more people..

What happened was that the corporations gave the millions as pay-outs for CEOs and investors...

Finland is rotten to the core but the international statistics say Finland is one of the less corrupted countries..

The least corrupt nation in the world is Singapore. I don't care what any organization says.
