The South was very Christian and Libertarian. They fought for the same ideals of their forefathers a mere 80 or so years prior. Even to go so far as to wear the clothing their fathers wore as a symbol.
This was not some army fighting against the United States, these were fathers, sons, women and children, wearing what they could, fighting to save their land and families. Just wanting to be left alone, like we still do. But corrupt officials like to keep taking, and striking blows to us Southerners.
