OTTAWA – Health Canada has authorized with conditions the drug remdesivir (brand name Veklury) manufactured by Gilead Sciences Canada, Inc. for the treatment of patients with severe symptoms of COVID-19 who have pneumonia and require extra oxygen to help them breathe.

Remdesivir is the first drug that Health Canada has authorized for the treatment of COVID-19.

Remdesivir is authorized for use in adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and older with a body weight of at least 40 kg). Further on Regeneron from manufacturer

https://www.theepochtimes.com/antibody-cocktail-trump-is-taking-helps-immune-system-beat-covid-19-regeneron-co-founder_3524934.html">Antibody Cocktail Trump Is Taking Helps Immune System Beat COVID-19: Regeneron Co-founder

The cocktail of antibodies that President Donald Trump is taking as part of his treatment regimen is aimed at helping boost the human immune system to beat COVID-19, the co-founder of the company that makes it said on Saturday.

"It's all about beating the virus and so we're just helping the natural immune system beat it, by supplementing it with this antibody cocktail," Dr. George Yancopoulos, the co-founder, president and chief scientific officer of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, said during an appearance on Fox News' "Cavuto Live."

The polyclonal anti-viral antibody cocktail includes a collection of antibodies produced by B cells.

New York-based Regeneron announced this week that the first data from a clinical trial spanning phases one, two, and three showed the cocktail reduced viral load and the time to alleviate symptoms in non-hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

COVID-19 is the disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus. Trump tested positive for the disease on Thursday and went to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland the following day for treatment.

Trump received the antibody cocktail on Friday, his physician said in a memorandum on Oct. 3.

While Regeneron's investigational treatment is still undergoing tests, it was released under the "Compassionate Use Request," a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) permission structure that lets companies dole out treatments to people outside of clinical trials.

"We figured out ways to make the best of the antibodies that your body makes but we can make them outside of the body in these huge bioreactors, purify them and give them back to you in highly-concentrated form so it's like we're substituting for or supplementing your own immune system with these very powerful antibodies," Yancopoulos said on Fox.

The virus levels in a person's blood, or viral load, can be dramatically lowered by the cocktail, the co-founder said, pointing to the initial data from the clinical trial.

"Patients who have the highest viral levels, who are at the highest risk presumably, in a few days with our cocktail, we can lower those viral levels by about 99 percent," he said. One dose can last for months, according to the company.

Is it ever odd. It's also odd that Americans blame Trump for not acting soon enough on COVID when when the Trudeau regime has copied him, but months after.

The entire world (except parts of Asia) were light years behind T in acting. He closed China door on Jan 30, long before others.

He should have closed other countries faster (especially EU) and got bit, but was still way sooner than other countries to close the doors

As to PPE and extra beds, he had the feds move to use auditoriums and FEMA tents, even hospital ships .. all c/w excellent staff

Not to break the flow of convo, but at this point I'm trying to keep leading candidates at top for easy reference and additions as new stuff comes in

PRIME CANDIDATES (All started Final Stage Testing) (Moved to top of new page for reference - Will update as statuses  change

Maybe others will point out anything they see on vaccines so I can keep it current

1. Oxford/AstraZeneca ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (Final Stage Testing Started End of August)

One of the West's leading contenders in the race for a vaccine, ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 was among the first to start human trials, in late April. Also known as AZD1222, the vaccine candidate is based on a virus found in chimpanzees. Early results showed that ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 can produce positive immune responses, and late-stage testing began at the end of August, with the backing of the U.S. government – but when one subject developed a potential side effect, it was briefly put on hold.

The Canadian government announced on Sept. 25 that it has secured a deal AstraZeneca for up to 20 million doses of its vaccine candidate.

2. Moderna mRNA-1273   (Final Stage Testing Started July 27)

One of the first vaccine candidates to be developed, it was shipped to the U.S. government in February and human testing began in March. The company has said that mRNA-1273 is able to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus in a lab setting, and 30,000 volunteers were given the potential vaccine starting July 27 as part of the final phase of human trials.

The Canadian government says it has signed a deal to distribute Moderna's vaccine, if it is approved by Health Canada.

3. Johnson & Johnson Ad26.COV2-S (Final Stage Testing Started Sept 23)

Johnson & Johnson began human tests of its potential coronavirus vaccine in Belgium and the U.S. in July. A final phase, involving 60,000 volunteers in eight countries, commenced Sept. 23. Modelled after a successful Ebola vaccine, the Johnson & Johnson candidate is unique among the front-runners in that it can be administered in a single dose.

Canada announced Aug. 31 that it has signed a deal with the company to secure a supply of its vaccine candidate, should it be approved by Health Canada.

4. Pfizer vaccine candidate    (Final Stage Testing Started in late July)

One of the biggest names in the global pharmaceutical game, Pfizer is working with German firm BioNTech to develop and test a potential mRNA-based vaccine. Doses were given to human test subjects in Germany in April and in the U.S. in May. Company CEO Albert Bourla said a few weeks later that one vaccine candidate could be ready by October "if things go well, and the stars are aligned." Phase III trials began in late July.

Canada has signed a deal to distribute any Pfizer vaccine approved by Health Canada, and the German government gave the effort a 750-million-euro funding boost in September.

5. Novavax NVX-CoV2373 (Final Stage Testing Started Sept 25)

Novavax says its potential vaccine uses a protein made with the company's proprietary nanotechnology to stimulate immune responses. On Sept. 25, the company started late-stage trials.

The federal government announced Aug. 31 that it had reached a deal to receive 76 million doses of NVX-CoV2373, provided the American vaccine candidate is approved by Health Canada

The seed for Quebec's COVID comes from flights from Iran. If he had banned travel from that country the same time Trump did that province would have more grave vacancies.

cc

Yes Iran is correct. All those visiting Iran got on the first plane back

Then, straight to visit mom in a Care Home and off to Shia mosques that got hit hard and of course members spread it everywhere

Needed to lock the airport doors immediately

Quebec not only got hit hard back then, it is leading again now    .. bad management provincially too

I can understand why Quebeckers want more control over their own borders. Legault is the best premier in Canada by the way.

While covid was not done well, I agree that he seems the only one in the country to be a good leader overall

Pretty hard to get cooperation from Montreal, the core of Quebec's covid disaster

Just checked, today's numbers are double Ontario with not much over 1/2 the population .. .and there overall death rate  is atrocious - 8 / 100 cases last time I ran it (allowing all numbers include early cases)

Legault is the best elected leader in Canada. However, he has to make the unpopular decisions for something True Dope is 100% responsible for.

That and Montreal being Montreal and populous will fight him at every turn

It has a radical libtard city council like Redmonton.

The left (mayors and councils) have captured and hold hostage almost every big city in N America .. and for the same reasons, likely the entire western world
