No way for anyone to know if antibodies diminish yet. Time will show that.

It's actually not comparable to flu vaccines which are given annually .. mainly not because effect is diminished, .. rather to counter new and current flu strains

Pneumonia shots are somewhat similar to flu shots in that regard .. many strains to cover

I guess if people get infected next fall that got the shot in the spring, we'll know it needs to be taken annually.

They will know long term efficiency via antibody tests as time goes on

It makes sense they will especially follow up on those who were part of trials as they will have had more time with it

I thought they forgot about antibodies testing.

Moderna Update

https://www.foxnews.com/health/fda-committee-modernas-covid-19-vaccine-no-specific-safety-concerns">FDA committee documents on Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine find 'no specific safety concerns'

The committee will meet Thursday to discuss its findings and vote

A Food and Drug Administration committee review of Moderna's coronavirus vaccine emergency use authorization application found "no specific safety concerns" in subgroup analyses by age, race, ethnicity, medical comorbidities or prior SARS-CoV-2 infection, potentially paving the way for a second COVID-19 jab to enter the scene.

In documents posted ahead of Thursday's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee meeting, the panel also found that the vaccine reduced the risk of confirmed COVID-19 – including severe cases – occurring at least 14 days after the second dose.

The committee was careful to note that there wasn't enough data to evaluate the duration of protection in relation to the vaccine, effectiveness in certain high-risk populations such as immunocompromised individuals, effectiveness in individuals who have previously been infected with SARS-CoV-2 or effectiveness in pediatric populations. There also wasn't enough data for the committee to evaluate future vaccine effectiveness in relation to changes in the virus, effectiveness against asymptomatic infection, and effectiveness against long-term effects of COVID-19, effectiveness against mortality or effectiveness against transmission of SARS-CoV-2.

This is major. This is the one we can get out to long term care facilities.

Canada has signed a contract to receive up to 168,000 doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine before the end of December.

A good and quick start. We are at least getting things going immediately

Canada has 2 x 20,000,000 doses deals   according to pres. of Moderna (will do over 1/2 of country) , but timing of all is not immediate and each 20,000,000 group will likely be different timing as the last deal is more recent

Great for care homes, but actually even for general public they will be able to do it much faster with Moderna ... more and smaller local injection sites

Any luck getting antibody test?

Canada's allocation of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses may be able to inoculate 20 per cent more people than the manufacturers indicated, according to the man in charge of vaccine logistics for the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin told CBC News Network's Power & Politics today that PHAC was told initially that each vaccine vial shipped would contain only five doses, but Pfizer-BioNTech has since revised that estimate.

Dr. Vivek Murthy, President-elect Joe Biden's pick to be the next U.S. Surgeon General, said a "more realistic" timeline for the coronavirus vaccine's availability to the majority of the U.S. population is closer to midsummer or early fall.

NBC anchor Chuck Todd told Murthy that Biden advisors have warned that the Trump administration's plans for a quick vaccine rollout could be "too optimistic." Those plans called for 100 million Americans to be vaccinated by the end of February or at least the end of the first quarter of 2021, and anyone who wants a vaccine to be able to receive one by the end of the second quarter.

Dr. Anthony Fauci has expressed hope that "herd immunity," when 70 to 80% of Americans are vaccinated, could be achieved by midyear and a possible return to some sense of normalcy by "late summer or early fall."
