The fallout from the decline of activity will be the worst part... contagions in the supply chain... people either not permitted to work, unable due to sickness, or unwilling due to fear...

A lot of defaults...mortgages....car loans...credit cards... and rolling shortages of items we normally take for granted...

...and then there are the crime waves... breakdown in relationships... trust between families... friends...

A 2-20% kill rate is entirely recoverable and manageable...

Your relative is a moron...

In the absence of any seen authorities and in the scenario of lockdowns, people (teens in particular) will run amuck... they do it at the best of times...

...I'd wager adults, even more criminally minded ones, would drag their feet about mixing with others in that scenario... unless they've got nothing and/or are mentally ill...

We've got a homeless camp in a nearby State forest full of gypsies, bogans, hippies, bludgers, drug addicts, and mentally ill sorts. I can't imagine what they would do if their drip feed of dole deposits, family charity, open markets, and communal sharing mantra dried up near overnight... They'd hoof it into town a day or two later and be a menace.... most of them not evil, but nevertheless dangerous by quarantine standards... Thank god summer is nearly coming to an end and it's raining heaps...  ahem... ac_umm

I agree that this relative is a moron and I told him that myself so we're not speaking now. Hahahah. But that will change, surely. He says anyone who tries to refute his claims is just a troll. He has followers because, as I said, they are gaining traction. For instance, they all post graphic videos of cows being artificially inseminated so that they will conceive again and that keeps their milk coming. Vegans claim humans are raping cows to keep this industry thriving.

These vegans argue that why should humans eat anything that has a mother, that feels, that cries?

President Trump on Tuesday said the United States is "very close to a vaccine" for the coronavirus that is sweeping the globe.

"I think that's a problem that's going to go away," Trump said about the outbreak of coronavirus, known as COVID-19. "Now they have studied it, they know very much. ... In fact, we are very close to a vaccine," he said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday warned that it expects the novel coronavirus to begin spreading in the U.S. at the community level, and that "disruption to everyday life may be severe."

CORONAVIRUS FITS CRITERIA FOR 'DISEASE X,' WHO EXPERT SAYS

Dr. Nancy Messonnier, the agency's director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said in a press briefing on Tuesday that the time for Americans to begin preparing for a potential outbreak of the virus is now, although officials believe the immediate threat to the public remains low.

"As more and more countries experience community spread, successful containment at our borders becomes harder and harder," Messonnier said. "Ultimately, we expect we will see community spread in this country. It's not so much a question of if this will happen anymore, but rather more a question of when this will happen, and how many people in this country will have severe illness."
