What is the point of shutting down family owned businesses when Trudeau won't close the damned border.

QuoteMore than 6.3 million travellers who entered Canada since the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic didn't have to complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine, according to new statistics provided by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

This includes truck drivers and other people involved in the transportation of commercial goods, cross-border workers who travel to the United States regularly, and people who arrive in Canada by plane, either from the U.S. or other countries directly.

"The border is not closed," said Colin Furness, an infectious control epidemiologist and assistant professor at the University of Toronto.

Furness said he doesn't want to vilify truck drivers and believes they're doing essential work, but he thinks it's "appalling" that some air travellers, including wealthy and high-profile visitors, have been granted exemptions to the mandatory travel rules.

The statistics provided by the CBSA show that 74 per cent of the total 8.6 million travellers who entered Canada by land and air since quarantine measures were implemented in late March have been exempt from the rules.

I had a throat swab test.

Research suggest some COVID-19 nasal tests don't go deep enough

Researchers from Western University and the Lawson Health Research Institute have found issues with how COVID-19 testing is completed in Canada.

They say their research suggests most instructions for conducting nasal swabs have been incorrect.

"They just don't go deep enough into the nasal cavity," said Sowerby, who is an expert in the anatomy of the head, neck and inside of the nose.

"As a surgeon who works inside the nose all the time, I was surprised to find that most of the instructions in Canada aren't effective to reach the nasopharynx."

Sowerby says less than a quarter of public health instructions tell practitioners to insert the swab deep enough to reach the nasopharynx, which is the top of a person's throat, behind their nose.

New study suggests 'vast majority' of people infected with COVID-19 see 'at least six months' of protection after recovery

High level of antibodies six months or more after initial infection

A new U.K.-based study has found that the majority of people who were previously infected with COVID-19 have very high levels of antibodies for six months or more following an initial infection, possibly protecting them from a second infection for that time period.

That right on

Here's sequential progress for the month of January (total weekly cases)

Week Ending Jan 8 = 61,651

Week Ending Jan 15 = 51,359

Week Ending Jan 22 = 41,700

Week Ending Jan 29 = 33,386

Current week with 2 days yet to come = 18,858 (obviously going to end well lower than previous week - say about 25,000 or less)

Due to an error in unrecorded cases in previous days due to a technical glitch, there were 582 cases today and thirteen deaths..

The positivity ratre is 3.6 per cent.

Alta may have missed on other days also - I had to add over 300 to daily totals to match what they say is total

May explain those 200+ days?

Neither Canada Border Services Agency nor Health Canada would say whether false COVID-19 test certificates have been found in Canada yet.
