Alberta recorded 931 new cases today including 676 new variants of concern..

Alberta has lost over two thousand people to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Alberta will bring in new restrictions over the next seventy two hours..

Some of these will include:

-no indoor dining or coffee shops, but outdoor patios will be allowed

-libraries closed

-personal services like tattoos, massage, and nail salons will be by appointment only

-children's sports cancelled

-foodcourts in malls closed again

-stores and malls are only allowed fifteen per cent fire capacity

Van Canucks now have 25 cases   - 21 players, 4 staff .. all  variant

So many people don't realize how this thing can decisively spread among a group from only one person initially infected

It's gone crazy in Alberta. I hope the new restrictions lower the daily count.

Today was a sudden jump not typical of previous 3 days

Today Alta passed BC on 7 day rolling average, so it's not totally an anomaly

I hope your new regs bring numbers down . . Actually, following several provinces and countries,  I've lost track a bit .. you guys did install new regs??

Indoor dining is gone, health club restrictions, lower capacity in stores and malls and some others.

The only good news for us, you and ON is that deaths are fewer and even with rising cases the overall death / case % has been going down appreciably and steadily for last few weeks

That rate for Canada has also been going down

All large provinces (what I track, so can speak for) are dropping dramatically in death / case % as is Canada as a whole the past month or more

As most elderly people are vaccinated, the people catching COVID and the variants are much younger now.

In a reversal of earlier pandemic trends, Canada is on the verge of matching — perhaps surpassing — the United States in the number of COVID-19 cases relative to its population..

The reason of course is vaccinations.
