Fash: I was putting  BC's daily numbers  I posted on how many unvaxxed and vacced  / 100,000 into perspective



By simply dividing both numbers, the chances of getting sick are 8.4 X less than unvaxxed  .. which indicates it's ability to stop infection is still quite high against the current variant .. higher than I would have thought .. what with all the negative talk  on variants vs vaccines making some people skeptical



I'll take 8.4 X less chance of infection any day



Similarly the chances of hospitalization is 20 X  less which is major  for lessening of symptoms



I'll also take 20 X less chance of getting major sick IF I did get   infected any day

A lot better odds of not getting infected if you are vaxxed and tremendous odds of not getting hospitalized if you're vaxxed.

COVID-19 Cases, Hospitalizations Plummet in Southern US, Rise in Northern States



COVID-19 metrics in southern states like Florida have plummeted in recent weeks while rising in many northern states, including heavily vaccinated ones.



Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Mississippi, for instance, have plunged some 95 percent from the peak of 5,018 on Aug. 19 to just 268 on Oct. 7. COVID-19 related hospitalizations in the state, one of the worst-hit in the nation, dropped from 1,667 on Aug. 19 to 403 on Thursday.



Similar drops have been recorded in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, and Texas.



At the same time, metrics have been rising in many northern states, including those in New England.



Vermont, for instance, went from one case on July 5 to 286 on Oct. 1, and eight hospitalizations in the month of June to 160 in the month of September, though the metrics have been declining in recent days.



In North Dakota, active cases jumped from 143 on July 5 to 4,485 on Oct. 7 while hospitalizations rose from 9 to 184.



Seasonal Pattern

Experts say the shift is part of a seasonal pattern for the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes COVID-19.



Last year, cases started dropping in the south at the same time they climbed in much of the upper Midwest and other northern areas. The same pattern is playing out again, Dr. Scott Atlas, who advised former President Donald Trump and is now a senior fellow in health care policy at the Hoover Institution, told The Epoch Times.



"We've seen some kind of seasonality, or really cycles where we have seen these surges," Dr. Adnan Munkarah, executive vice president and chief clinical officer for the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan, added during a briefing this week. Active cases and hospitalizations have risen 97 percent and 96 percent, respectively, in the state since hitting lows in early July.

Amish community in Lancaster County reaches herd immunity from COVID-19, medical center says



LANCASTER, Pa. - According to a local medical center, the Amish community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has achieved what no other community has been able to do – herd immunity.



Herd immunity has been quite a buzzword in the past, and especially since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.



Experts at a New Holland Borough Healthcare Center said around 90% of households dealt with at least one coronavirus case after churches reopened last year.

I don't understand that



1. "at least one coronavirus case" in a family does not mean the rest of family (usually large) have any immunity

All other family members can get infected, no?



I so hate that "herd" term Sweden tried to sell  from the very beginning.. before falling flat on it's ass .. as it has no significance "that I can understand" - uninfected can become infected even if it were only one person in a whole city



What does the term actually mean?  ... What does it even imply much less mean?  



And there now are breakthroughs among the previously infected ... had the numbers / percents in UK the other day, but can't find it easily now

first of all, its not 'herd' immunity.... its 'heard' immunity.... if you heard someone you know has covid, you automatically become immune.... the rise in your adrenaline levels triggers your immune system to create antibodies.... i heard about 10 or 12 ppl caught it and now my immune system is off the charts.... yall need to do better science....
