The UK recognizes natural immunity when granting COVID-19 vaccine passports.

That's good news. All should do that.

They all might consider testing for antibodies + T & B cells to see how strong and for how long natural resistance is effective

Alberta had 315 cases over the last twenty four hours, but a rather high eight deaths.

cc

Deaths of course come mainly from those infected before and so are minimally affected by current cases

Some good news here on cases -

Alberta is down

-654 to date this week based  based on average per day  since last week

-1,225 down last week

-1,069 down week before last

-2,232 down week before that

-2,981 down week before that

We were never so high thus cannot come down as much & even with  406 today are

-519 down to date this week  based on average per day  since last week

 -450 down last week

+ 524 up week before last

-756 down week before that

-469 down week before that

Thus, currently we are both going down consistently from a while ago - despite opening up more - maybe people are learning how to be smart and play safe?

Without doing the numbers here, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan etc. are also trending down noticeably with Manitoba down a bit but holding mainly of late

Our daily cases will rise for the next three days.

That is the weekly trend.

My objective was  to show the overall great lowering of cases over the past month + despite opening up more & despite numbers tending to rise toward end of weeks. This week might end up fighting  that trend, still overall you guys are doing well of late

https://globalnews.ca/news/8349133/merck-molnupiravir-covid-treatment-uk/">U.K. approves Merck antiviral pill to treat COVID-19

Britain on Thursday became the first country in the world to approve a potentially game-changing COVID-19 antiviral pill jointly developed by U.S.-based Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, in a boost to the fight against the pandemic.

Britain's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) recommended the drug, molnupiravir, be used as soon as possible following a positive COVID-19 test and within five days of the onset of symptoms, citing clinical data.

This is the first oral antiviral treatment for COVID-19 to get approved, with the green light coming ahead of potential U.S. regulatory clearance. U.S. advisers will meet this month to vote on whether molnupiravir should be authorized.

Treatments to tackle the pandemic, which has killed more than 5.2 million people worldwide, have so far focused mainly on vaccines. Other options, including Gilead's infused antiviral remdesivir and generic steroid dexamethasone, are generally only given after a patient has been hospitalized.

I hope Canada approves it soon.

Our cases are down too. We had 188 today. Still higher than Alberta and BC on a per person basis, but better than where we were.

New York City is copying Alberta's successful idea to get people vaccinated by paying one hundred dollars per dose.
