Only 0.1% of Ontario's total COVID-19 cases to date have been confirmed to be linked to retail. The Doug Ford government though refused to budge and revise its unscientific rules, despite an open letter from dozens of CEOs of well-known retailers calling for cautious re-openings. It seems the government's main rule of thumb these days is "facts be damned."

COVID-19 hit U.S. last year: StudyCOVID-19 hit U.S. last year: Study

The new coronavirus may have been circulating in the United States last December, well before the first COVID- 19 case was diagnosed on Jan. 19, a new analysis of donated blood reveals.

Researchers at the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention looked for COVID- 19 antibodies in archived samples of blood donations collected by the American Red Cross from Dec. 13 to Jan. 17 from non-identifiable donors in nine states ( California, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and Wisconsin).

Of the 7,389 blood donors, 106 had antibodies specific to the new virus.

There were samples found with COVID-19 antibodies from all nine states, according to a report of the study published Tuesday in Clinical Infectious Diseases.

The findings suggest the virus may have been present in western states as early as Dec. 13 and in eastern states as early as Dec. 30, according to a press statement from Dr. Susan Stramer, vice-president of Scientific Affairs at the Red Cross.

Very interesting & informative  Fash. I rarely watch a long video .. usual scan them .. played this all the way through

Unfortunately for our society, the approaches are unlikely to happen .. Still, the things they found should be considered here by our scientists .. the word "should" being problematic

Our main culprit is private social gaterings.

COVID-19: Post-game beers or coffee leading to most sports and fitness cases in B.C.

Henry says needles to start Jan. 1 and all British Columbians will have access to a vaccine by end of 2021.

Beers or coffees after games have played a key transmission role in the roughly 4,400 cases of COVID-19 related to fitness and sports activity in B.C., the provincial health officer said on Thursday.

"I've said this many, many times; it's the locker-room, it's the before, it's the after, it's the going for a coffee or a beer after a game that has been the most source of transmission," Dr. Bonnie Henry said, adding that between 10 and 15 per cent of all transmissions in B.C. had been sports or fitness related.

BREAKING NEWS

QuoteVirgin coconut oil lowers coronavirus load by 60-90% for mild cases

After 6 months of experiments, Filipino scientists found that virgin coconut oil (VCO) decreases the coronavirus count by 60 to 90% for mild to moderate cases of COVID-19.

"The results are very promising, as not only does it show that the VCO, by itself, can destroy the virus, but it also has a key mechanism in upregulating the immune response against COVID-19," said Dr Jaime Montoya, executive director of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), in an October 5 statement posted on Department of Science and Technology (DOST) website.

Montoya said that they "look forward to the results of clinical trials on the various uses of VCO as an adjunct for the treatment of COVID-19."

In their study, the scientists also found VCO to improve cell survival. They cautioned, however, that more studies are needed to "determine whether higher concentrations of these compounds will further reduce the replication rate of the virus."
