Odumbo's state of the union address is tonight. One of his big money backers is going to be showing an anti-Keystone commercial featuring Harper and former Chinese PM Wen Jia Bao shaking hands. Nothing like appealing to old fashioned xenophobia to turn that 70% Keystone support rating among Americans around.

On the health front, however, Canada has been held up by Ryan as an example of much that is wrong with a "government health-care system" and U.S. President Barack Obama's controversial makeover of U.S. Medicare.

"In Canada the waiting list is up to more than four months between patient referrals and actual treatment for a dozen of the specialty procedures most needed," Ryan wrote in a 2009 article for the conservative magazine The American Spectator. "The average Canadian now has to wait over a month after getting a primary doctor's instruction just for a CT scan, and more than two months for an MRI. Canada's medical equipment is old, unreliable, and obsolete."

Months really in BC? I needed a head CT scan from a doctor after consulting with another doctor. The doctor had to work away from a nearby nerve while doing some minor surgery on my jaw. I just walked down the hall where the head CT scanner was located. I think the head CT scanner is state of the art. The CT scanner rotated around my head and I had my head CT scanned. I had my surgery started after the doctor reviewed my CT scan.

Thanks for sharing that Hornung and I hope you are feeling better.
