My Mother was a drunk, not capable of love or compassion.



My stepfather considered me a nuisance.



They fought all the time, while drunk all the time.  I was a single child, so I learned to retreat into my own self and World as best I could.



They were also both RCMP officers, so it wasn't a pleasant environment.

I want to add also, that in an environment like that, you learn to cherish things, not people.



You learn that people who should care for you, don't give a fuck about you...



The Lego set becomes your best friend, and you try to guard it.  The train set becomes your best friend, so you try to guard it also.



You develop a bond with items that many others would consider 'consumable'...  They are inanimate objects to most others, but to me they were all I had, so you protect and hang onto them.

My neighbours are both great people.  I interact with them somewhat regularly, believe it or not!  



I do all that I can do to be a good neighbour, and I do that very well, believe it or not!



That said, I know how things will be...  I will remain single, which is fine...  I am the only single guy that owns a property in this area.  It's not cheap here, since this is not Appalachia...
