Skynyrd calls the Confederate flag, the Dixie flag.

Pretty much.

Btw, even though its the most popular these days, what everyone thinks is the Confederate flag, is actually the battle flag of Northern Virginia. Perhaps it got so popular cause it was the flag of Lee. And everyone loved Lee. Thus it became the flag of the South... Dixie land.

Can you post a picture of the original Confederate flag?

I believe this was the original, but it was easily confused for the Union flag, so they changed it.

The one everyone thinks is the flag, is the one flown by Lee. The Honorable Lee, a damn good man. That did not turn his back on the civilians when asked to attack them, and resigned the Union army, and joined the South.

I'll wager 95% of adult Americans don't recognize that flag. Then again, 95% of Americans are idiots-especially white Americans.

I have driven through the South enroute to Florida more than once and I have never seen that flag even in a museum.

There is a local museum here that has the center one.

I know the Lee flag is based on the cross of St. Andrews, because of the heavy Scots Irish influence in the area.

I've learned that if someone asks you a really stupid question and you reply by telling them what time it is, they'll leave you alone

Southerners looking for evidence that the Confederacy was a Christian nation needed to look no further than their Constitution. Unlike the U.S. Constitution, which does not mention God, the preamble of the Constitution of the Confederate States of America made a direct appeal to "Almighty God":

We, the people of the Confederate States, each State acting in its sovereign and independent character, in order to form a permanent and federal government, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, and secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity—invoking the favor and guidance of Almighty God—do ordain and establish this Constitution for the Confederate States of America.

Jim Limber became the first Black

American to be a member of a

Presidential family in February 1864,

when Confederate States President

Jefferson Davis adopted him, after

rescuing the 8 year-old orphan from being

mistreated at a Black foster home in

Richmond.

Davis registered free papers on Jim

and he played with the other Davis

children in the Confederate White House

during Lincoln's War. It was not

uncommon in the Old South for Blacks to

take in orphaned Whites or Whites to take

in orphaned Blacks.

Meanwhile, Abraham Lincoln was

shipping 500 Free Blacks to poverty-

stricken Haiti, after telling Black leaders

on August 14, 1862: "There is an

unwillingness on the part of our people

(Northern Whites) for you free Colored

people to remain with us. It is better for

us both, therefore, to be separated."

Lincoln did not want to live with

Blacks, slave or free, but Jefferson Davis

enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of

Blacks, both slave and free.
