Judging by Mel's incessant whining, that seems to be one hundred per cent true.

It wouldn't be surprising if that was the case, though I'm no expert but from what I've heard, beer and weed were never meant for healing purpose, but just for recreation and fun.

His liver is literally crying for help, he has no friends, he has no family (they died or he drove them away). His cat is dead. He is unemployed and his prospects for the kind of work that will pay the bills are poor. He lives an isolated life and to compensate, he lives in the past. He is a lifetime bed wetter, a closeted homosexual, and to top it off, some gay cruiser that Mel probably picked up in some seedy donut puncher bar, tore up Mel's asshole beyond repair and didn't even say they were sorry.
