Do not get your hopes up that Canadians will be among the first to get a vaccine. Even during the China caused pandemic, Trudeau put all our eggs in the China basket.

The Liberal government has finally decided to get in line to receive a COVID-19 vaccine from a company that isn't based in China.

Good. It's better late than never.

On Wednesday, the feds announced they had signed an agreement with Pfizer and Moderna for millions of doses of the vaccines the U.S. based companies are currently working on.

What was not disclosed though was where in the line for those millions of doses Canada finds itself.

It could be that we have to wait for many hundreds of millions of doses to be shipped to other countries before any of them make it to Canada.

That's because when Canada first signed on to securing a vaccine back in May, it put all its eggs in one basket: with China.

The feds first signed a deal with CanSino Biologics several months ago. Now, as a Postmedia report explains, that deal has stalled as Chinese officials are refusing to release a shipment that's needed to conduct human trials here in Canada.

The reason for the hold-up is unknown, but experts told Postmedia that the Huawei affair could be playing a role.

The CanSino deal was originally touted as a way for Canada to have early access to a vaccine. The opposite may now come to pass, as China has – once again – proven untrustworthy in their relationship with Canada, leaving us to head with our tail between our legs to other sources.

What were the feds thinking? By May, Canadians were already calling for the government to begin decoupling our relations with China.

Why were we not aggressively pursuing vaccine options with like-minded countries at the first available opportunity?

Let's cross our fingers and hope that deals like the one signed on Wednesday produce positive results for the health of Canadians in the coming months.

We've also got to demand why better decisions weren't made sooner.

Trudeau never thinks of the consequences of his actions. And the opposition never holds him accountable.

He doesn't meed to consider questions of ethics, because he doesn't have any.

I can't believe Trudeau did that. Actually, I can.
