Twitter Suspends Account of State Senator Who Called Pennsylvania Election Hearing



Twitter on Wednesday suspended the account of Pennsylvania Sen. Doug Mastriano, a Republican who called an election oversight hearing that presented allegations and evidence of voter fraud.



Mastriano's personal account was active until Wednesday afternoon. The page for the account now says it is suspended.

Candace Owens Challenges Facebook Fact-Checker PolitiFact, Wins Correction



A self-described fact-checking website recently issued a correction after labeling a post by Candace Owens saying Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden isn't president-elect as "false."



PolitiFact issued a statement following a threat of legal action from the popular conservative commentator.



"Correction: PolitiFact originally labeled this video false in our capacity as a third-party fact-checker for Facebook," PolitiFact said. "On Nov. 20, an appeal to that decision was made on behalf of Ms. Owens. PolitiFact approved the appeal on Nov. 20, determined that a correction was appropriate, and removed the false rating."



Biden has declared victory in the presidential election and many news outlets have been referring to him as president-elect. The Epoch Times isn't calling the race until all litigation contesting the election results plays out.



In the video, Owens discussed how Biden isn't president-elect until the Electoral College decides who to vote for and those votes are counted in a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6, 2021.



"Joe Biden is literally and legally not the President-elect. So why is the media pretending he is?" Owens wrote in an accompanying caption.

Three Ways America's Mainstream Media Resemble Communist Media



CNN and the New York Times dress themselves in good intentions by telling us we have a serious problem with racism, just as the communist media claim to be serving the people. In fact, by pushing this narrative of racism, the media are fomenting division. It is no accident that this summer we saw young people rioting and burning in our big cities. They have been trained to hate, just as in China, the communists trained people to hate.



But in China the tool used was class struggle. "Racism" in the United States is for our mainstream media what class struggle was in China.



In reporting on America in the world, the mainstream media portray the United States as evil and say it should feel guilty for its power and prosperity. This is similar to how the media in communist countries call on the rich to confess their sins.



The mainstream media have told us America is in decline, which is exactly what the propaganda of the Soviet Union said and what the CCP media have been saying. Those communist media have never stopped calling on America, the free world's leader, to concede.



On Thanksgiving we saw the media pressuring Trump to concede. In fact, the mainstream media have never accepted Trump as legitimate.



For instance, according to the Media Research Center, in the months March through May 2020, coverage of Trump by ABC, CBS, and NBC was 94 percent negative, with the coverage reaching an unprecedented 99.5 percent negative in May. Since Trump was elected, MRC has regularly found network coverage that was 90 percent or more negative.



This unanimity of perspective is what one expects out of communist media. It is a propagandistic attack.



As with the political correctness employed by communists, behind this unanimity is a conviction that Trump and conservatives simply have no right to their opinions.



Hundreds and thousands of people have come forward to expose fraud in the 2020 election, but the media have not reported what they have to say. This is a deliberate control—or censorship—of people's voices.



The non-stop attacks on Trump, the political correctness, the silencing of viewpoints–these are all the hallmarks of communist-style press.



America has been the envy of the world for its freedom and prosperity, and American media have been considered the exemplar of a free press. Media in other countries follow American media and trust them. Do we still have independent free media? If America falls, the whole free world falls. Who will win? America or the communists?

President-elect Joe Biden has yet to take office, but the media is already giving Americans a glimpse of what kind of coverage they should expect.





During President Donald Trump's four years in office, the media often made mountains out of molehills, whether it be the "Sharpie-Gate" controversy that earned days of media coverage or wondering what in the world "beef-loving Trump" would eat on his trip to India.



Now, after the media called a win for Biden in the 2020 election, coverage on the presidency has already changed – and it won't be surprising to see less scrutiny and more fluff pieces like these over the next four years:



Americans may see more hard-hitting news like this: Mass coverage of Biden's pets



Media members gushed over Biden's two German Shepherds, named Major and Champ, upon learning that they would be moving to the White House. The New York Times, NPR, CNN, NBC News and others ran to the presses with the big news.



The NYT wrote that Major would be the first rescue dog ever to live in the White House – CNN, however, wrote that the dog will not be the first rescue animal. Regardless, media publications covered this news far and wide.



The Daily Beast even went so far as to speak to a pet psychic who says she's communicated with the dogs. Major and Champ, according to that article, believe "their master will be 'a great president.'"



"Both dogs say Joe Biden's troubles with Donald Trump are far from over, but that their master is calm and focused enough to steer America forward," The Daily Beast added.



Breaking news for the media also equals Biden getting a cat



To continue on the Biden-pet headlines, news that the former vice president plans to add a cat to the household also made the rounds. "CBS Sunday Morning" was the first to report on the "breaking news," writing that the Biden's told them "exclusively that soon they'll be joined by a cat."



Once again, the announcement sparked mass coverage by the media, with the NYT reporting that "the Bidens will be restoring a tradition of presidential pets when they move into the White House in January, as President Trump opted not to have a pet during his term."



The media may continue going to great lengths comparing Biden and Trump – even over something like a sprained foot



When Biden slipped and sprained his foot last month, at least one prominent media figure took the opportunity to compare the incident to Trump's presidency. CNN's editor-at-large Chris Cillizza explained how "Biden's broken foot reveals how different his White House will be from Donald Trump's," using the injury as an opportunity to praise the upcoming administration's "transparency."



"The point is this: Transparency in matters of health and, well, everything else, is fundamental to a functioning democracy," according to Cillizza, who began by criticizing Trump's "unannounced and previously unscheduled trip to Walter Reed medical center" last Thanksgiving. "And we have had the opposite of that for these last four years."



"The transparency coming from Biden's transition team about hairline fractures in the President-elect's foot suggests that the effort by the Trump White House to actively obfuscate when asked basic questions about the President's health is over," Cillizza continued.



Don't forget about Biden's socks, another important news update



Bloomberg News' Jennifer Epstein took time on Nov. 23 to tweet about Biden. But it wasn't about his policies, who he plans to include on his team, or any past issues during his time in the Obama administration: it was about his socks.



"George H.W. Bush was known for his socks, maybe Biden will be too?" Epstein, a White House reporter, wrote on Twitter. "Today he wore dark blue socks adorned with lighter blue dogs. (Yes, there are plenty of more substantive things to tweet about but we can have some fun sometimes too.)"



The media has already decided that Biden's administration will be "delightfully boring"



Although Biden has yet to pick everyone in his administration, the media has already decided it will be "delightfully boring" and that "of the Georgetown dinner variety," as Politico's Playbook recently reported.



"THIS ADMINISTRATION will be of the Georgetown dinner variety. A return to briefing books and policymaking by political professionals who aren't likely to try to burn down the White House over petty disagreements and jockeying to get in the good graces of the president," Playbook wrote.



Politico's Playbook is far from the only one to swoon over the upcoming administration. A Washington Post story wrote that Biden's choices "seem meant to project a dutiful competence," while Axios announced that the president-elect "is obsessed with bringing stability and conventional sanity back to governance."



The articles fail to dive into the fact that many of Biden's picks previously worked for Obama, an administration that many would argue was far from being free of scandal.



As Biden takes office and begins his presidency, it won't be a shock for more fluff pieces to come out – a complete change from how the media covered the Trump administration.

This Election Puts Corruption of the Media on Full Display



If any good comes out of this seriously compromised election, it may lie in the perfect illustration it affords of the corruption of the media—which, unlike the corruption of the political establishment to which it is related, is unambiguous and out in the open for all to see.



Every single story about fraud allegations by President Donald Trump or anyone else, at least every one I have seen, has been qualified in the media by the application of some such adjective as "baseless" or "unfounded" or simply "false"—this from the very moment of their first being made.



The application of these quasi-Homeric epithets to each repetition of the president's claims has continued for weeks during which a rational person might have expected the media to be engaged in demonstrating the baselessness and falsity of such claims, rather than simply and repeatedly asserting it.



Having established, as they suppose, by the precedent of their supposed "fact-checkers," the right to pronounce on the truth or falsity of the president's utterances as he makes them—and then having transmitted, by a kind of apostolic succession, the same right to the various social media platforms that now censor him—the media can presumably see nothing untoward about treating as fact anything that fits their "narrative," or treating as false anything that doesn't.



It's an enviable position to be in, this of the ultimate and thus presumptively infallible arbiter of truth and falsehood, but the media simply assume it as their right. That they should do so is of course not surprising. That so many good liberals should concede that right to them without so much as a peep of protest—and even join in the abuse of anyone advocating suspension of judgment and investigation into the claims of fraud—is rather surprising.

Facebook Fact-Checker Funded by Chinese Money Through TikTok



While Facebook portrays its army of fact-checkers as independent, the money behind at least one carries a distinct taint.



One such fact-checker, Lead Stories, is partly paid through a partnership with TikTok, a social media platform run by a Chinese company that owes its allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). TikTok currently is being probed by U.S. officials as a national security threat.



Moreover, the organization that's supposed to oversee the quality of fact-checkers is run by Poynter Institute, another TikTok partner.



Lead Stories says it's been contracted by ByteDance "for fact-checking-related work," referring to TikTok's announcement earlier this year that it has partnered with several organizations "to further aid our efforts to reduce the spread of misinformation," particularly regarding the CCP virus pandemic, which originated in China and was exacerbated by the CCP regime's coverup.



Lead Stories was started in 2015 by Belgian website developer Maarten Schenk, CNN veteran Alan Duke, and two lawyers from Florida and Colorado. It listed operating expenses of less than $50,000 in 2017, but had expanded sevenfold by 2019, largely because of the more than $460,000 Facebook paid it for fact-checking services in 2018 and 2019. The company took on more than a dozen staffers, about half of them CNN alumni, and became one of Facebook's most prolific fact-checkers of U.S. content.



This year, the funding sources included Google, Facebook, ByteDance, and several online advertising services. Advertising brought it less than $25,000 last year, the group said.



"The bulk" of the funding still comes from Facebook, it says.



Part of its revenue comes from subscriptions to "Trendolizer," its viral content tracking tool. "For privacy reasons, we cannot reveal the list of Trendolizer users ... but none of them individually accounted for more than 5% of our revenue," it says.



The Trendolizer website only shows three pages "powered" by it: Trendolizer.com, LeadStories.com, and StoryTide.com, a news aggregator started by LeadStories in 2016.



Lead Stories didn't immediately respond to emailed questions from The Epoch Times.



Censorship

Facebook's fact-checking partnerships have drawn criticism as they facilitate censorship. A post that's flagged as false by the partners not only gets furnished with a warning label and a link to the fact check, but Facebook "significantly reduces the number of people who see it," the company says on its website.



The fact-checkers themselves can choose what content to review and decide what is labeled as false and why. Any complaints about the verdict must be raised with the fact-checkers, who aren't known to readily reverse themselves, even when their fact checks themselves require fact-checking.



Lead Stories has recently focused on disputing claims about voter fraud, contributing to censorship of the topic on Facebook.

One of President Donald Trump's lawyers said YouTube removed his opening statement from a Senate Homeland Security hearing on election fraud.

As President-elect Joe Biden prepares to take office, there are plenty of questions that the media should be pressing him on. Instead, they've allowed him leeway.



Joe Biden's son Hunter announced earlier in December that he is under federal investigation. Hunter's former business partner Tony Bobulinski has claimed the incoming president was closer to his son's business dealings than he's admitted. There are also policy considerations, particularly with other countries and areas of the world, like China and the Middle East.



Instead of pushing Biden on some of the tough questions, much of the media is letting the president-elect off the hook. Here are six questions the press should have been asking and should be asking Biden leading up to his presidency:



Bobulinski has accused Biden of lying about his involvement in Hunter's business dealings. He told Fox News' Tucker Carlson in December that he met with Biden more than once regarding his son's business dealings.



Fox News also obtained text messages between Bobulinski and James Biden, Joe's younger brother, in October. The messages suggested that a meeting may have taken place and one allegedly was sent to Hunter regarding the president-elect.



"Mrng plse let me knw if we will do early dinner w your Uncle & dad and where, also for document translation do you want it simple Chinese or traditional?" Bobulinski texted Hunter on May 2, 2017, according to Fox News.



Bobulinski's claims suggest that Joe Biden may have had more involvement – or at least known more – regarding his son's foreign business dealings.



The investigation into Hunter Biden gives the media a lot of potential questions for the incoming president. As Biden considers who he will appoint as attorney general, President Donald Trump is potentially considering appointing a special counsel to independently investigate Hunter.



The question over whether Biden would protect that possible special counsel has been largely sidestepped, though Fox News' Chris Wallace did ask incoming White House press secretary Jen Psaki about it.



"There has been a lot of concern among Republicans about whether or not President Biden is going to stop the investigation of his son," Wallace said on Sunday. "A couple of specifics here, does he promise to let David Weiss, who is the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, does he promise to allow him to finish the job and what does he think of President Trump possibly appointing a special counsel to conduct an independent investigation of Hunter Biden?
