I give to charity right out of my bank account.

So, do we Oak, but probably not as much as you're able to give.

I don't give tons.  I give modestly.  I have to give out of my own money.  My partner's a conservative and he's not ever given once...wait, I lie.  At work we supply a poor family with toys and clothes for the kids and food for the entire family.  I convinced him to buy a cheap football at Wal-Mart one time.

My only experience with conservatives is that they don't care about others' well-being outside the family.



He is very generous with gifts, etc to me.  But others?  Not at all.



I don't get it, actually.

Everything I've seen confirms everything that I've read about who is more charitable, conservatives or liberals/socialists. The answer of course is conservatives by a landslide. You see, socialists expect the state to do what they won't do themselves, and that's help out people in need.



We East Asians are not a particularly charitable people. We expect families to take care of their own, not strangers. The exception tends to be Filipinos and South Koreans who are heavily influenced by Christianity.

Conservatives give to religious institutions.  So, they support their own belief system.  They're not generous with non-religious related charities.

It debunks a lot of the stereotypes you have about who gives and who doesn't. You see, we fiscal conservatives believe that individuals-not government-offer the best solution to social ills. Socialists believe the state should do everything. Which would explain why Americans are far more charitable than Europeans or Canadians.

I haven't read that book.  I don't know that I believe what one guy said one time in one book.
