Oddly, we do not have to produce any ID when voting here in Australia. I think the same applies in the UK.



The reason is simple. There IS no universal identity certificate or document that would be in the possession of every citizen.



Not everyone will have a drivers licence or passport. We do have Medicare cards, but the legislation strictly forbids being asked to produce a Medicare card as a form of ID.



So we turn up at the polls, tell the poll operator our name and address and in we go.



Voting ID, as worthwhile as it may be, would be very hard to implement without providing a universal identity certificate.



And that ain't gonna happen in this country.

According to the True the Vote report, 242 intermediaries in metro Atlanta made 5,668 stops at drop boxes during elections in late 2020. In its report, TTV said it obtained 4 million minutes of drop box video surveillance tape that helped to document its Georgia findings.
