If the GOP takes control of congress next year there must be an investigation into Fauci's role in gain of function research at the Wuhan lab of Virology.

Behind the Scenes of the Natural Origin Narrative

A sequence of events in early 2020 suggest that Dr. Anthony Fauci and a small group of scientists sought to promote the natural origins theory as a means to avoid public scrutiny of the possibility that COVID-19 had leaked from a lab.

Fauci received several warnings in late Jan. 2020 that prompted him to hold a private teleconference on Feb. 1, 2020. Emails from participants show that during this teleconference, the two main presenters made clear to the teleconference group that they believed it was a real possibility that COVID-19 originated from a lab.

These same presenters were simultaneously completing an article, later known as Proximal Origin, which publicly promoted the Natural Origins theory and dismissed any lab leak theories. Proximal Origin, which would prove to be highly influential, would be viewed more than half a million times and has been extensively used by Fauci and the corporate media in their promotion of the natural origins narrative.

Two days after the teleconference, some of these same scientists, including Fauci, would be invited by the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), to assist in the drafting of a response letter to an inquiry made by the Trump White House regarding the virus's origins.

Fauci's scientists, who forcefully pushed their natural origins narrative to NASEM, made no mention of their private discussion that the virus likely originated in a lab. But directors at NASEM chose instead to disregard their input in their formal response to the White House.

Despite this setback, Fauci and his scientists would continue to aggressively push the natural origins narrative for the next 18 months.

A High-Risk Proposal

In 2018, EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak, a long-standing collaborator of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, drew up a blueprint for creating a COVID-like virus in the lab as part of a funding proposal submitted to the Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) program.

The proposal detailed how Daszak and a group of scientists under his direction planned to insert a furin cleavage site into coronaviruses to make them more transmissible to humans.

DARPA eventually decided not to fund the research because it was deemed too risky, and it remains unclear whether it was ever conducted.

The furin cleavage site is the defining feature of COVID-19 that sets it apart from any related viruses and is key for the virus's pathogenicity in humans. This feature of COVID-19 was often puzzled over by scientists early in the pandemic.

Indeed, a more recent study in the science journal Nature noted that the COVID-19 virus was uniquely adapted to infect humans, as it "exhibited the highest binding to human (h)ACE2 of all the species tested."

Daszak managed to successfully conceal the existence of his 2018 proposal until it was leaked earlier this month.

The Start of a Narrative

As news of the outbreak in Wuhan first started filtering out of China on Dec. 31, 2019, one of the first things Daszak did was to write a same-day Twitter thread, which essentially blamed animal-to-human transmission for the outbreak.

Daszak's thread was written at a time when no one outside of China knew anything about the virus, let alone its origins.

A few weeks later, on Jan. 27, 2019, Daszak emailed a notification to a colleague of Fauci at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) that appeared to provide talking points in the eventuality that Fauci was asked by the media about the collaboration between himself and the Wuhan Institute of Virology. It isn't clear if and when Fauci received Daszak's warning.

Notably, Daszak's warning came before any public reporting of the potential connection between Fauci and the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

That public reporting materialized on Jan. 31, 2020, when the journal Science published an article that indirectly linked to a 2015 research paper that held proof that Fauci's NIAID had funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The Jan. 31, 2020, article, which appears to have been based on input from scientists who would later be part of Fauci's teleconference group, took pains to discount the lab leak theory, noting that the viral sequences "knock down the idea the pathogen came from a virology institute in Wuhan."

But the article also indirectly linked to a 2015 research paper co-authored by Shi Zhengli, the director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Within three days of publication, the 2015 paper, which detailed gain-of-function experiments, triggered warnings from the scientific community, leading one scientist to note that: "The only impact of this work is the creation, in a lab, of a new, non-natural risk."

This same article apparently triggered warnings for Fauci, but for entirely different reasons. Despite Fauci's repeated denials that he ever funded gain-of-function experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the 2015 paper clearly stated that "Research in this manuscript was supported by grants from the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Disease."

Fauci sent the 2015 paper to NIAID's principal deputy director, Hugh Auchincloss, on the morning of Feb. 1, 2020, telling him, "It is essential that we speak this AM. Keep your cell phone on." Auchincloss responded to Fauci later that same day, acknowledging "The [2015] paper you sent me says the experiments were performed before the gain of function pause but have since been reviewed and approved by NIH.

Dr. Anthony Fauci declared last week that people hesitant to receive the COVID-19 vaccine should "give up" their individual freedoms "for the greater good of society." A very privileged person who the masses do not trust(for good reason) is not going to persuade them to sacrifice anything.

Fauci had a lot of help lying about the origins of the virus and how he funded gain of function research.

Daily Mail blasts U.K. government for heavily redacting emails related to origins of COVID-19

Details of a teleconference on the COVID-19 pandemic response held in early 2020 between leading scientists including Dr. Anthony Fauci remain shrouded in secrecy after the U.K. government heavily redacted documents requested by a newspaper.

The U.K. Daily Mail submitted a Freedom of Information request to its government for emails relating to the secretive meeting between British and American health officials. The requestwas answered by a cache of 32 emails that were almost entirely redacted, leaving the details of what was discussed on that teleconference call unknown, the paper reported.

What is known is that in the early days of the pandemic, a group of scientists led by Fauci, Dr. Jeremy Farrar, the director of the London-based megacharity Wellcome Trust, and Peter Daszak, the president of EcoHealth Alliance, among others, held the call "in total confidence" and that after the call, the public campaign by many of the participants to stifle discussion of the lab-leak theory intensified.

Before the conference call, some of the world's top virologists who participated had raised concerns that the emerging SARS-CoV-2 virus had features that "(potentially) look engineered" — but after this call those scientists reversed their opinions and publicly condemned the hypothesis that COVID-19 escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology as a conspiracy theory.

Since the call was held on February 1, 2020, EcoHealth Alliance's ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology have come to light, and Fauci's repeated assurances that the U.S. National Institutes of Health did not fund risky virus research at the Wuhan lab have been shown to be false. It is in the public interest to learn what was discussed on the call, to know if top health officials had a conflict of interest in publicly discrediting the lab-leak theory.

However, the Daily Mail reports how the U.K. government is obscuring the details of the call:

The Mail on Sunday requested emails, minutes and notes on the call between Sir Patrick Vallance – Britain's chief scientific adviser – and its organisers Sir Jeremy Farrar, director of the Wellcome Trust medical charity, and Anthony Fauci, the US infectious diseases expert and presidential adviser.

Yet when the documents were released they had page after page redacted with thick lines of black ink by Whitehall officials. Even the names of experts copied in on discussions were blocked – and exchanges as trivial as one Edinburgh biologist's 'thank you' for being invited – leaving only a few basic details about the call visible.

The lines left intact include a demand for the discussions, involving 13 participants around the world, to be conducted in 'total confidence', and an intriguing email line suggesting 'we need to talk about the backbone too, not just the insert'.

That was possibly sent by Dutch virologist Marion Koopmans, a member of the World Health Organisation team that produced a widely criticised report into Covid's origins.

American and Chinese scientists planned to collaborate to create a new coronavirus in a lab that is not found in nature, according to a World Health Organization collaborator who reviewed a research grant proposal that was leaked in September.

The 2018 proposal, which was made public by DRASTIC, was submitted to the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) by EcoHealth Alliance, a nonprofit group that sub-awarded federal funding from Dr. Anthony Fauci's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) to conduct research on bat coronaviruses.

In the proposal, EcoHealth Alliance asked DARPA to fund a joint project with Chinese scientists to create a new virus.

Last year, scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology said they had found a strain named RaTG13 in bat droppings in a cave in Yunnan province in 2013 which was a 96.1 per cent match to Sars-CoV-2. It means RaTG13 could have been included in a set of viral genomes to help create an average sequence.

Although the grant proposal was rejected in 2018, the Wuhan database of viral strains was taken offline prior to the Covid outbreak some 18 months later, meaning it is impossible to check which viruses the team was working on or had created. Wuhan scientists have consistently denied creating Sars-CoV-2 in a lab.

The WHO source added: "If Sars-CoV-2 comes from an artificial consensus sequence composed of genomes with more than 95 per cent similarity to each other... I would predict that we will never find a really good match in nature and just a bunch of close matches across parts of the sequence, which so far is what we are seeing.

"The problem is that those opposed to a lab leak scenario will always just say that we need to sample more, and absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. Scientists overall are afraid of discussing the issue of the origins due to the political situation. This leaves a small and vocal minority of biased scientists free to spread misinformation."

Dr. Anthony Fauci says it's too soon to tell if we can host Christmas gatherings this year. But are Americans still waiting for his permission? If elites can have their maskless Met Gala, you best be sure I'll be having eggnog with my family this Christmas.

NYT: Fauci admits to deceiving the public about herd immunity because he wanted more people to get vaccinated

Fauci apparently thinks it's appropriate to deceive the public for their own good

In a startling interview with the New York Times, Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the government's coronavirus taskforce, admitted that he did not level with the American people about how many people would need to be vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity because he didn't think the public was ready to hear his true thoughts, which he feared might discourage people from getting vaccinated.

The Times article catalogued Dr. Fauci's changing position on how many Americans would need to be vaccinated, which he initially stated would be 60-70 percent. As noted by the Times, about a month ago, Fauci's tune began to change and he suggested that the figure was actually 70-75 percent. Last week, in an interview with CNBC, he upped that figure (again) to "75 to 80-plus percent." In the interview with the Times, he changed his estimate yet again and suggested that the figure actually may be "close to 90 percent."

In other words, Fauci's advice to the American public on one of the most critical aspects of the coronavirus pandemic, has not consisted entirely of his honest opinion, formulated by the best science, but rather on what he thinks the country is ready to hear.

Dr. Fauci went on to even more expressly admit that he had fudged his public pronouncements in order to encourage people to take the vaccine. According to the Times, Dr. Fauci was ready to raise his estimates "weeks ago" but refused because "many Americans seemed hesitant about vaccines, which they would need to accept almost universally in order for the country to achieve herd immunity."

We see now herd immunity doesn't exist.

Fauci has repeatedly denied that the U.S. funded gain of function research in Wuhan

The National Institutes of Health is now admitting to funding gain-of-function research on bats infected with coronaviruses at a lab in Wuhan, China despite repeated denials from Dr. Anthony Fauci that U.S. tax dollars were used on the funding.

In a letter to Rep. James Comer, ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, an NIH official admits that a "limited experiment" was conducted in order to test if "spike proteins from naturally occurring bat coronaviruses circulating in China were capable of binding to the human ACE2 receptor in a mouse model."

Fauci refuses to budge when confronted about damning NIH letter seemingly admitting risky research funding

Dr. Anthony Fauci refused to budge on his narrative Sunday when confronted about a new letter from the National Institutes of Health, which seemingly admitted the agency engaged in gain-of-function research at the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology.

What is the background?

Throughout the pandemic — and in several notable exchanges with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) — Fauci has denied the NIH funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan bio laboratory.

In one definitive instance, Fauci told Paul at a congressional hearing in May:

I do not have any accounting of what the Chinese may have done, and I'm fully in favor of any further investigation of what went on in China. However, I will repeat again, the NIH and NIAID categorically has not funded gain-of-function research to be conducted in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
