Not sure how many if any deportions

I do know terrible border situation of him taking in so many  greatly helped trump win

Of course, now it's a great deal worse than even when 0 was in

I remember some media pundits were calling Obama the "deporter-in-chief."

I remember that label......I didn't know which president it was applied to.

cc

0 was not actually known as that .. and certainly did not earn the term.

Only a Hispanic group National Council of La Raza tried it on for size as propaganda ... as of course they wanted zero deportations, despite the law requiring deportations

Pictures taken to shame Trump showing children locked up at a border detention centre were actually taken while Obama was POTUS.

Yes, I remember those photos.

The US had 61,000 cases yesterday and Canada had 382. Yet, we're letting them in as of August 9 and they aren't reciprocating.

Yes, that's like 20 / 1 per population and cases in US have been climbing for many weeks now - and much faster this week in fact

Do we really want them coming here?

And I guess we could also say do we want our people going there, interacting and returning here

At the same time, we are on a bit of a rise this week and have no idea where this whole thing is going for us in the future

I want them to come here provided they have been fully vaccinated. Our economy will never fully recover until that border is open.

Agree on economy. I was just thinking out loud

At same time, I just looked and Washington, BCers usual target, had 1,264 yesterday

Fully vaccinated makes it better, although I'm waiting on more stats of how vaxx is actually doing vs variants .. So far, not enough data to really know what to expect

Indeed. Growth is incompatible with restrictions. Proof of vaccination is a reasonable compromise.

Israeli data says it's not as effective as first thought. It'll be interesting to see if a third booster will change that.

It could also have the added benefit of encouraging more people in both countries to get vaccinated.

That's what I mean - a one-off shocker like that Israel thing is all I have seen - and I'll believe it IF I see a LOT more supporting stats

The source is reliable enough, at the very least, raise doubt about the efficacy of current vaccines against variants.

Israeli data says it's not as effective as first thought. It'll be interesting to see if a third booster will change that.

But, data from Israel also shows it reduces the severity of symptoms.
