A permanent resident of the United States and former combat interpreter who worked with the U.S. military in Afghanistan says he and his family are trapped in Afghanistan. Now that the country is dominated by the oppressive Taliban regime, he doesn't believe he'll be able to safely escape the country.



The man, a resident of Arizona, told Fox News that he is now in hiding in Afghanistan because the Biden administration didn't have a "clear evacuation plan." The 31-year-old also revealed that he is not alone in being an American resident stranded in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.



"There are a lot of people still left behind. My friends, I know them, they are stuck here. Four of them are American citizens. Two from Arizona and two from California," the man said.



The man, who is only identified by his first name "Zekria" for his protection, slammed the Biden administration for its botched evacuation plan.



"The Biden administration left without any plan, and that is why there are thousands of allies who worked for the U.S. military, American citizens, Afghan Americans, all stuck here," he explained.



He added that the Afghans who did escape the country were likely "beggars displaced from other provinces," and probably "not qualified" members of the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa program.



"There are a lot of people like me," Zekria said. "We are the ones who are qualified. We put ourselves and our families in danger, and they took people that don't even have documents."



"It was impossible to get into the airport," he said, adding that his brother "got beaten by the Taliban" when attempting to access the Kabul airport. He said the Taliban was demanding $600 to get past checkpoints near the Hamid Karzai International Airport.

Goljuma's first son to die, 11 years ago, was Zia Ul Huq. He was a fighter for the Taliban. "My son joined the Taliban because he understood that the Americans wanted to destroy Islam and Afghanistan," she said.

I married her when he was killed."

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley said Tuesday that he recommended the U.S. keep 2,500 troops in Afghanistan prior to the chaotic military withdrawal last month, appearing to contradict Biden's statements that he received no such recommendation.



"I won't share my personal recommendation to the president, but I will give you my honest opinion and my honest opinion and view shaped my recommendation. And I recommended that we maintain 2,500 troops in Afghanistan," Milley said in a hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee.



The comments appeared to contradict what the president told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos last month, saying he couldn't "recall" any such recommendation.

The Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday denied U.S. landing rights to a charter plane carrying more than 100 American citizens and legal permanent residents attempting to flee Afghanistan, flight organizers told Reuters.



What are the details?

Bryan Stern, one of the organizers and a founder of the nonprofit group Project Dynamo, reportedly spoke with the news agency from the tarmac at Abu Dhabi airport in the United Arab Emirates, where his chartered plane had been grounded for 14 hours.



Passengers had arrived on a flight from Kabul, Afghanistan. Once there, Stern said he planned to transfer them to a chartered Ethiopian Airlines plane for a flight to the U.S. that DHS Customs and Border Protection had cleared to land at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.



But according to Stern, the CBP then changed the clearance to Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., only to then deny the plane landing rights anywhere in the U.S.
