Unless you're in a near constant state of martial law....

Our lock downs have not been as strict as yours, but we still had large protests against them..

It seems in Australia, authorities are arresting people for protesting.

A lady was arrested and fined for walking around her neighbourhood with a protest sign, on her permitted 2 hours of exercise per day.

She just lost her Supreme Court case. The judge gave Vic Police a reacharound...

Who would have thought this would happen in Australia.

They're tyrants here. They just needed an excuse...

Have all states been as extreme as Victoria?

NSW, the other populated state has. The rest are less populated.

South Australia has started down the same path.

If it was something not transmissible / not potentially harmful to others from the infected, I'd support anti vaxxers cause (for lack of a better word)..

But it is transmissible / potentially harmful to others ... so sorry, no sympathy, no support

If they choose to risk themselves that's one thing .. but they also  choose to risk others & that's a whole other ballgame

To throw a wrench in this discussion I will ask this question.... What kind of actual rights do Aussies really have?.. Are they considered inalienable rights or are they rights granted not by your creator but by some government bureaucracy? Because if their rights are grant by the benevolence of the central government, they really have no rights at all and what you are seeing is the expected actions of a government that holds the basic rights of it's people within its grasping claws.

The rights of Australians have never been cemented...

Sure, there have been laws about rights... but there have never been a bill of rights. Previous to these things happening,we'd react like a village under fire...

But that's no longer enough...

Canada has the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.....I thought Australia would something like that.

Your Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a government granted list of privliges rather than actual rights. The government can revoke those privileges at any time as it sees fit. All the government needs is an excuse and just cause...And who decides that "just cause"?... The government itself.

Even if Australia was to have a document such as yours it would be basically worthless in a time like this.

This is what I was afraid of. We need to pray for the Australian people because they are fucked. They gave up their guns and by extension their God given right to self defense and self reliance and this draconian crack down,  this police state, is the legacy of being so willing to just roll over for the convenience of the government.

I don't expect you or any other citizen of the commonwealth system to understand why Americans feel the way they do about their inalienable right to bear arms... I honestly believe you have to be born to it. But our Founding Fathers understood the need and our oppressive rulers of the time feared it. That in itself makes it necessary and indispensable as it is as important today as it was 245 years ago.
