And with an equator area to cross to get near to China ........

Actually, I'm a bit tongue in cheek here. I'm glad to see OZ get some muscle .

as for us, we have refurbished Brit rejects and are decades behind in the technology  .. .in fact, not even in the game in most all areas

I also like to see it as a concept

But, help me here. What value or leverage or deterrent do they have if they  are not nuclear armed at lease equally to the obvious enemy

Their missile bays can be easily refitted for nukes... to some degree or another. China doesn't want 8 South Pacific subs roaming around almost quietly which can carry different payloads.

...and fair enough!

Non-China nations don't want China roaming around their territories with the same.

And make no mistake about it....the CCP are a pack of cocksuckers...
Blahhhhhh...

How do you like our new submarines?

Fuck China.

Bricktop

The subs give us parity with the best China has to offer, and in some circumstances, superiority.

Australia will now have long distance military reach far beyond our borders, putting China within range.

If China threatened Australia, the only way to reach us is by sea. With 8 nuclear submarines lurking in and near our waters, Chinese vessels will be threatened.

But make no mistake, this decision is very much driven by the US which needs a deterrent in the Pacific but doesn't have the capacity to build and maintain its own base. Likewise to a lesser intent the UK which needs to expand its trade activity to south east Asia. Having Australia guard the waters in the region increases trade opportunity.

But above all else, Australia is making a stand against Chinese bellicosity and aggression. Wouldn't hurt for Canada to step up a bit.

Do you know what you have done!?

You might have cost President Macron his re-election.

He wanted this feather on his hat.

Did the French president want a similar alliance with Austalia and the USA.

The French and aussies have been negotiating about the sale of Diesel powered submarines for years now.

Technically this deal was a knife in the back.

And they didnt even bother to notify the French.

Thats why France pulled its ambassadors from Australia and the USA.

Australia security situation is changing. Diesel-electric subs aren't able to meet those challenges.

France had 6 years to start building subs they signed on for. As at the time of the AUKUS agreement, not a single steel component had been built. The French deal was a travesty signed by one of the worst Prime Ministers in our history. We would have ended up with obsolete barges that had no chance of defending our borders. France sold us a dud. Getting out of that deal was the best thing this current PM has done.

Fuck France. It is only interested in Europe, specifically the EU and how much money it makes from scamming other nations.

Lol at first i thought China is on the rag again over nuclear submarines like SSNs, which is none of their fking business to begin with, but over unarmed subs?  LMFAO

Bricktop says they are difficult to detect and have long range capabilities.

Yea, but they're just unarmed subs, duno why China is so butthurt over this, lol.

They can go dark for long periods of time.

Dark as if you mean in perfectly silent, experts say a nuclear sub will never be able to turn off their reactor unlike the diesel ones that can run on just batteries.
Permanently off his rocker
