Anyone ever get a PS4 repaired?

Didn't know where to post this so I put it here...



I've got a PS4 that I've had for about seven years and never had a problem with it, then this morning I'm playing and it shuts off and the tv it's connected to also shut off. Thought it was the surge protector so I replaced it, started playing again and after about ten minutes the same thing happens. This time the PS4 goes off, the tv goes off, and a stereo plugged into a different wall outlet shut off.



Okay at this point I'm starting to sweat thinking how much electrical repairs cost. So I unhooked the PS4 and hooked up my old PS3 and I've been gaming for two hours without any problem. So it seems the PS4 is shorting out or sending a surge or something.



From what I've read getting a new power supply put in is about 150 bucks so I'm wondering if anyone ever had a console repaired... did it work, how long before it broke again or anything... or maybe I should make a fancy paperweight out of it and get a PS5... hmm, Christmas is coming up at that...

I've never tried gaming before..



My son has a PS5......he hasn't had any repairs yet.

Mine shut down. I enquired about repairs and after being advised they would cost more than a replacement PS4 I just replaced it.



If I recall correctly, Sony will not supply spare parts to anyone but an authorised repair workshop.

At least I´m not saying that he should be buy it for some other guy.

The power supply is usually the first one to go... It costs around 60 bucks.



Your PS4 is probably shutting down the TV and Audio before it crashes.



Its programming, not a surge.

I know a guy that fixed consoles on the cheap but he threw that side of the business away because he couldn't guarantee longevity on re-baked boards.

Buy a PS5.

Yeah since a PS5 is backwards compatible with most PS4 games I think that's what I'm gonna do... after Christmas of course when availability might be better and maybe cheaper too but I'm not counting too much on that

I don't expect the Boxing week sales of the past.
