I don't disagree.

But those stats are completely dependent on the sample population they were taken from, and it's pretty clear they're only collected from positive test data.

That is a biased sample, which means that conclusions drawn from it are reduced in reliability and certainty.

But what does that mean! That is the important question. Citing numbers is just quoting mathematics. The real trick in using statistics is putting meaning to the numbers.

It means that vaccines offer protection from the worst of COVID.

And Ceec's stats show some proof they protect people from getting the virus too.

Only memes count.

It's the total of all known new reported  BC cases over 1 week for cases & over 2 weeks for all hospitalized

Sample is from entire population over those time periods

But Fash is right - Only memes count.

But the operative word there is "reported" cases.

This is a biased sample.

To obtain a more empirical sample you must test a population that has no bias.

I'm not knocking the principle of being vaccinated. Do it. But the premise that being vaccinated stops the spread is not established by the data at hand.

It slows the spread among the vaccinated..

Most people in my province have been tested at least once..

The results indicate that those that test positive are much less likely to be vaccinated.

You keep using the word "stops" which I find disingenuous in its application. For the umpteenth time the premise was never to "stop", rather it was to "reduce" .. obviously better than doing nothing

I won't go into "improving one's odds" yet again as that keeps getting ignored .. or something  :confused1:

We are not in disagreement. Vaccinated people are less likely to transmit the disease, primarily because the period during which they are infectious is shorter than for the unvaccinated.

Nonetheless, they can carry and transmit the disease.

Now, in the overall context of where you and I differ, nothing in any data indicates that the disease will be eradicated. As we know, new variants are appearing and will continue to do so. And they will ALL possess different characterisitics and traits. Vaccination is not a cure, and there may never be one.

Thus, our disagreement is on the social cost of heavy handed and ineffective government mandates that breach our basic human rights. Compulsory vaccinations. Domestic passports. We will, in a very real sense, have to be registered and innoculated like dogs.

People are going to die, especially those that have made a choice about being vaccinated. Just like those who use narcotics. The same as those who choose to smoke. Just like those who engage in sports where death is possible.

We make choices because that is our RIGHT. Taking that away from us increases government power and control that may well never be lifted.

And they do NOT have that right.

We do not disagree on this much:

I'm of the opinion this likely will never go away, just as flu despite many vaccinations has not gone away

I think the best we can do is reduce the possibility of catching it and decreasing symptoms, just as for flu

My biggest fear is more viruses by accident or as a weapon by design (thinking mainly of China here)

I also agree that we cannot know exact  % of infections (vaxxed vs unvaxxed) as some weak cases likely do not report (Note. That applies to all)

- However, Hospitalizations we already have the data (that's easy stuff) thus do know ... and ratio is very large .

Same for ICUs where ratio is even double that  .. and similarly we have the data

(Am I disgusted with those who fill hospitals so that others cannot get potentially life-saving operations because the selfish unwashed are filling beds in both areas of Hospitals - You bet I am!!

and you cannot take away my right to be beyond discussed with those selfish twatwhaffles causing this)

Oh, I know, "principles" make that OK

We will never agree on my right to decrease my risk substantially by going to bars & restaurants etc. free from the unwashed.

I see you never allowing me to do that if the decision was yours .. rather you would take away that right from me (and most others - approx. 92% of the people in my area .. all the time feeling all justified in doing so)

However, your opinion on that is of no matter. Decision is not yours.

I can, .... do ....  and will continue to do so

Do I feel a bit sad for the unwashed who cannot? No .. not one bit .... perhaps if they stopped preventing many important operations, I'd feel a tad sad for them .. maybe ..  so long as they stay the fk out of my bar / restaurant
