Since the US denied both, and knowing their history of lying about research work abroad, I am starting to think there could be some truth to the Russian allegation.
You don't scramble to destroy bio "research" labs from falling into different hands unless they're doing bio weapons research.
If NATO had its way and could put "defensive" missile systems along Russia's borders, but scrambled to remove them before they fell into Russia's hands, they're much too offensive to merely be defensive missiles.
