Wtf?

For two decades now, citizens that go abroad to fight for a cause they believe in as private persons have been prosecuted mercilessly by their own governments upon return.

Which I personally have taken issue with. Once you set foot outside the border, it's none of their fucking business....or shouldn't be.

But now to skirt NATO's inability to legally fight, they're showering corrupt Ukraine with weaponry, supplies, and greenlighting volunteers to fight by proxy.

Just another example of Western governments having no dignity or spine. Do as we say, not as we do.

And no frickin consistency either.

There is a distinction between citizens going to foreign lands to fight for a designated terrorist organisation, and another sovereign nation.

Governments have prosecuted citizens who have returned from fighting for and with ISIS and Al Queda because they are declared terrorist organisations along with Hamas, the PLO and if I recall correctly the Turkish Kurd rebels.

Once declared a terrorist organisation, it changes the rules on how people interact with them. They are considered to be an enemy of Western countries.

Ukraine is not a terrorist organisation or an enemy of the West (I think...).

So in that context a citizen is free to lend his services to a foreign military if he or she so chooses.

Terrorist organisations are designated willy nilly according to the policies of Nation state leaders of the day and their goals/compacts with coalitions often unrelated to the conflict....

Even domestically it happens....

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

Justine thinks protesters in Ottawa are a greater threat to the nation than returning ISIS fighters.
