I think it's entirely possible he is real. A CA Republican (Midwest democrat) who is retired. He wouldn't be conservative and be willing to be shacked up out of wedlock like that. It's not in line with conservative values to live together outside of marriage.

But "conservative" gets thrown around a lot and all you have to do to be labeled a conservative is to be even just slightly right of Stalin so....yeah.  He is probably just a "diet" Republican.

I'm sure she heavily exaggerates his accomplishments and the health of their relationship.
