I have noticed that too. Most of the far left posters on the forums do not have full time employment. One of the reasons why Garraty is a leftist who will talk and use reason could be that he is employed.

I attribute it to the fact that I'm not and never have been a democrat or a member of any other political party for that matter. I don't have a "team" except in the broadest sense that all you other mostly hairless bipedal apes are my people. The good, the bad, and even the hopelessly haplessly stoopid.

A lot of what you and most people for that matter consider liberal ideology is partisan Democrat talking points.

I consider myself a traditional liberal. Since the modern definition of liberal is often illiberal most people consider me conservative or even  right wing.

That is true. In the US, the terms leftist and Democrat are synonymous. Garraty sees through the Democrats phoniness.

The thing is I don't think of myself as a "leftist" or any other kind of -ist.

I have views and opinions based on my life experiences, logic, available data, and empathy. It's other people who classify me as being a this-ist or a that-ist based on my views and opinions. I don't control what other people think or how they see me; I don't even try. Others are every bit entitled to their views and opinions as I am to mine.

I only sometimes refer to myself as a "leftist" or a "progressive" (but *never* a "liberal" <spit>; that term has been appropriated by some truly vile creatures and they're welcome to it) for convenience's sake because most people seem to need such terms in order to process information and those labels are generally the closest to being accurate although they're still appallingly inadequate, partly because the definition of those terms varies wildly from one person to another and the consensus definitions themselves shift over time.

The displays used to be more robust with armored glass and they had mechanism that dropped the jewels into a safe if the display was disturbed.

We have had leftists or never Republicans or whatever you want to call them on here in the past who were shocked when I refer to myself as a classical liberal. They seem to think that has always meant cancel culture.

I did kind of address in my post how language has evolved. I still consider myself a classical liberal much to the chagrin of people with limited brain capacity like Seamonkey.

Liberalism used to mean smaller government and defending free speech even if it is despised.

Leftism is trickier. The far left and the far right have more in common than either side will admit. The word is still about taking away freedom and choice. Much like the radical right.
