Canada is not even close to being a socialist nation. Our health care is among the worst in the developed world. Canadians go to the States or other countries to get care they cannot get in their own country.

We don't provide direct transfers to individuals for health care, dental care or child care like rich European and Asians. We give block grants to rich unionized civil service bosses. This is why the wait for child care spaces is about five years. This is why ninety percent of dentists have not bothered to sign up for the federal dental coverage program. All the money goes to the people who administer it and not to Canadians. It's socialism for the wealthiest people.

Even maternity leave for most people in Canada is just Employment Insurance, same as in the States.
