I'd take on your farm if my wife didn't need to to be close to her farmer parents in their eighties... we'd need marginal guarantees, but we could work that shit.

As a side note, my wife lived in Red Deer for two years and I've never met a heavy machinery I couldn't operate.

Dang, look at these good hearted folks willing to help out a cranky old redneck. ac_drinks If leasing my land, outbuildings, machinery and equipment were like a job interview, I would probably hire old Dink. You have got to be mechanically inclined and a jack of all trades in farming or you will go broke. Especially when you are first starting out. But, I thnk Blazor and Flea have good intentions and would probably learn quick.

I would like to lease it with strict conditions about land management. My boy is only thirty one. He has a second kid soon on the way. He could change his mind about farm life in ten years. I sure would like my grandkids to take over the farm some day. The problem is old Herman won't be around in ten years. He would have to agree to be the lessor after I am gone.

I don't know shit unless shit happens. Case in point... rodents crawled up inside my air intake system and spat out numerous 2 inch long babies who began dropping out under the glovebox a few days ago. So I researched how to get the glovebox off, and quickly realized there was a motherfuckering nest above the cabin filter and below... so I removed it all the best I could... stuck the ratty filter in until I got the new one delivered, and turned my air con on the next day instinctively because it was so fucking hot.

Bad move.

I had chopped up any remaining rodents... and now it smells like death in my cab unless the windows are down low.

Now, I could research this shit and take pictures with my phone as I'm removing every component with every different screw size and element so I could possibly backtrack and see what I'm doing wrong.... OR I could pay a professional air con mechanic who knows my make and model, and doesn't have to pull the entire fucking dash out... (because he has flexible cameras and vacuum hoses)...

I know well enough when I got to pay for bullshit.... and know well enough if I can do it for myself... even if I have to call somebody and ask for the guidance about shtf...

You need somebody like that... somebody that has a good heart, honest disposition, who will value the cut rate deal you gave him and his or her kids, assuming they will stick to the deal..

When Shotty handed over the reins to his kids, my mom wanted to meet them and quiz them. And she okayed it very quickly. The kids were a chip off the old block. They were like "we alternate seasons to keep the soil up, dad has taught us. Your land won't change. It's as good or better from the time your ancestors cleared it in 1863.
