I think if one gets caught up in votes, one might be a narcissist.  I get a lot of down votes at BF, it's never influenced how I post.  I simply like showing my appreciation for posts without having to write a post just to say "Hell yeah" or to laugh.

Why would you want to avoid posting on a discussion forum?  That's pretty much the point. If you are short on time, and don't want to weigh in, your choice.  Also, you could think of something other that 'Hell yeah' and you have.
