I think I've had carne adada or something like it..

I'm not familiar with various Latin American cuisines.

I wonder how difficult it is to find good Latin American cuisine in Canada.

Does Chipotle count? :confused1:

No. Not even close to authentic Mexican food.

I think the typical Mexican restaurant cooks for the "average" customer rather than properly season the food like they would in a Mexican kitchen.

Is chipotle Native American Indian food? I know a lady from Tennesee whose father was native American and she used to eat that with her father.

No it is a massive Franchise Tex-Mex restaurant chain.

Chipotle is dried smokey Jalapeno... I just googled it.

Yes, and it's delicious, but spicy.

Here's a recipe that looks pretty authentic for Tinga de Pollo

https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1021734-tinga-de-pollo-chicken-with-chipotle-and-onions">https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/102 ... and-onions">https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1021734-tinga-de-pollo-chicken-with-chipotle-and-onions

After you prepare this dish, instead of reserving it for tamales, you can make a tostada with this chicken dish.

Take a tostada (crispy previously fried tortilla) put some sour cream (crema Mexicana is better, imo but may be difficult to find) on it..load it with the Tinga de pollo (several tablespoons full) and then shredded lettuce on top.

You experience crunch, the contrast between cool sour cream and spicy delicious tinga, and then another bit of crunch from the lettuce.

We're getting more Central and South American restaurants now..

But, it's like when East Indian restaurants started popping up here thirty years ago.......we didn't know what to order.

Watch Netflix for the foodie type shows.  There are several on Mexican food.

Did you know that Chinese food is a favorite among Mexican people?  Back when China was on the silver standard, like 400-500 years ago they got silver from Spain in "New Spain"/Mexico.  Some Chinese got off ships and stayed in Mexico.  The opened the first Chinese restaurant in the Americas in Mexico City.

I believe I read that in https://www.amazon.com/1493-Uncovering-World-Columbus-Created/dp/0307278247">https://www.amazon.com/1493-Uncovering- ... 0307278247">https://www.amazon.com/1493-Uncovering-World-Columbus-Created/dp/0307278247

Don't quote me on that, I could be recalling it wrong, it's been years since I read it.

Yes, they bought silver from Portugal and Spain.

I go to Florida every winter, so I'm a little more familiar with Latin American food. Ropa vieja, fricase de pollo, and Pernil asado con mojo are some of my faves.

I've never heard of any of them until a minute ago when ago when I looked them up.

I'm craving a big fat cheeseburger.

I think the main problem with a cheeseburger is the bun, and potential french fries.  Maybe have a juicy steak with steamed veges instead?

I still have a cheeseburger with onion rings once in a blue moon though.

Have you tried the protein burger at In and out? Yum!
