 Yeah I examine my motives a lot as well. I'm an emotionally damaged person so I still routinely take my own internal inventory. It goes along with recovery.



 This is why when I do something for other people, I don't talk about it because I do not want to get praised. I like to keep my ego in check. If I'm getting any sort of reward it becomes something I've done for myself....if that makes sense.

I ask myself if it is a Robin Hood mentality, an empathetic response to a situation seen unfolding or fear even... for me and my own, or just the general community feelz... or worse yet, I'm only trying to do good because it makes me feel better about my own life and it has nothing to do with the people or causes I'm helping...

 Yep!  I'm the same way. When I do something I want to be authentic and whole hearted and not about me.



 Unless it IS about me.....learning where to draw the boundaries so I'm not tolerating being used by others is a perpetual learning experience.  My home growing up was so dysfunctional.

I've never been arrested or anything but I have done some bad things in my life which I do regret now. But I have done good things too like helping people out and adopting the kitten when nobody else wanted her. Overall I would consider myself a good person with a touch of the dark side.

We clash sometimes... but we've learned to let sleeping dogs lay or agree to disagree if something comes up (we say our pieces, then drop it)... which is something that people don't understand about you on these forums.



They buy into preconceptions about what we are or where our thoughts actually align.....
