I have mixed feelings.  I like the spending cuts but the tax cuts should be matched dollar for dollar by spending cuts.

That depends what you are cutting. Cutting bureaucrat jobs, go for it. Cutting money for front line services in health care and education, no way.

LGBTQ people protested at the Stonewall National Monument after the Trump administration stripped the "T" and the "Q" from LGBTQ.

The Stonewall monument honors a riot by gay people against a police raid in June 1969 in Greenwich Village. As part of President Donald Trump's executive orders, the references to queer and transgender people were deleted from the website for the monument.

There has been a lot of lying about that riot by the left.  The police were actually raiding it because it was a drug den and they were selling drugs out of it.

I remember arguing with the perverts on old Yahoo about just that.  I think I went through three or four IDs on that one.

Rachel Maddow is a pathological liar, but she is not the only one sharing this lie like it's the truth.

Trump is getting resistance from Republican Louisiana governor Jeff Landry in his quest to make the US energy independent.

He has seemingly partnered with settlement-seeking trial lawyers and radical environmentalists on activities that impede the growth of the nation's energy sector.

There have been 43 lawsuits have been filed, starting in 2013 while Landry was serving in the U.S. Congress. These lawsuits, brought by several Louisiana parishes, aim to hold private entities responsible for coastal erosion — a problem that, like many environmental issues, is a "commons" problem.

This means that because coastal erosion generally happens in nature, no single person or entity is automatically responsible unless a court finds that someone or something is. With states and local governments facing budget constraints, they have increasingly partnered with special interests to ask courts to hold deep-pocketed corporations accountable for the costs of remediation.

As Blackmon also noted, the Louisiana-based Pelican Institute for Public Policy, a nonpartisan think tank, found the state has suffered significant economic consequences because "when the risk of getting sued increases, the expected costs faced by companies increases, and as a result, drilling activity decreases."

Between 53 and 74 fewer oil wells were drilled offshore Louisiana than would have been drilled if the threat of lawsuits was lower in the state.
This decrease in drilling activity led to economic losses in the range of $125.7 million to $320.3 million during those 34 months for Louisiana's oil and gas economy, which work out annually to something in the range of $44.4 million to $113 million per year.
Given that the average royalty rate in the coastal zone of Louisiana is approximately 20%, Pelican estimated Louisiana's state and local governments lose $8.9 million per year to $22.6 million per year in royalty revenue.

Focus on that last point. According to the think tank, Louisiana is "losing more in royalty revenue than oil and gas producing companies are losing in profit, which are likely less than 20% of revenues on average, due to litigation risk."

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz posted on X that he's instructed Israel's military to draft a plan to evacuate "any residents of Gaza who wish to leave," to be resettled to willing countries abroad.

"Countries like Canada, which has a structured immigration program, have previously expressed willingness to take in residents from Gaza," he said.

Well, thanks, but no thanks. Canada is full right now. We have a housing shortage, a doctor shortage and a youth unemployment rate of 14.4%. We certainly aren't going to welcome people who cheered Hamas after the Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

Canada's resettlement program for Gazans is limited to those who have relatives here and is capped at 5,000.

I did not know that.

Kathy Hochul is reportedly considering removing Eric Adams from his mayoral post after several New York City officials resigned from his administration.

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Adams admitted that when he spoke with Biden's administration about the migrant crisis, he was told to "be a good Democrat."

"I think they used the terminology, 'You were not being a good Democrat,'" Adams said. "I think that was their philosophy, that I was supposed to silently watch what happens to this city. And I love this city."

Truthfully, Adams couldn't afford to be a "good Democrat" anymore. The migrant crisis in New York City was costing taxpayers billions, flooding their schools and their communities with the expectation of endless welfare and subsidies. After realizing they could no longer foot the bill, Adams' approach changed.

In doing so, Adams has had multiple meetings with border czar Tom Homan, who seemed optimistic about the mayor's cooperation.

"He's all in on addressing public safety threats that are here illegally and helping me find these missing children," Homan said of Adams.

Republican Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona introduced the COINS Act on Tuesday that would implement President Donald Trump's proposal to halt the production of new pennies.

The bill, known as the Currency Optimization, Innovation, and National Savings Act, would prohibit the production of any new pennies for the next decade, according to the bill. It costs the U.S. Mint an average of 3.69 cents to produce a coin worth just one cent, giving Trump and his allies fiscal concerns.
