The reason I stopped using Social Media

....was boredom.



It had nothing to do with fears of privacy or run ins with their site owners.



Just that I found their sites lacked interactivity, too static, their content too canned.



Im not sure what it would take to make these websites or mediums more interesting. Maybe an entirely new technology which could bump it up to another level?



Aside from poor organization, layout and usability there's something terribly lacking about them.



Little wonder that ordinary people start forums like these because they want to produce their own content. Plus you seem to get quicker user responses than a platform like Facebook which is very static.



The only value I can see in today's social media is for business & to advertise your service or product. Now that - is what its good at and where it seems to excel and what it was meant for.



Any thoughts?

...what i am referring to is Big Corporate Social media, Dove.



Like Facebook, Instagram or YouTube.

I often find they are lacking in real time response from other users.



The  clincher for me to more or less leave Facebook is when I could no longer embed yt video videos in my posts and share them with friends.



I mean...an unoffensive non political top 40 song you hear regularly in the US or Canada? Gimme a break.



At least minimaly you can do that inthis forum or just about any other.



Facebook has become a social media channel with a nanny state mentality. When a small forum like this 1 lets you at least embed videos then why bother with Facebook?

That's because Google and "Meta" don't get along anymore.  Competition, you see.  At least, that's what I remember.  It's still in effect, too.  Definitely a sore spot for me, but I mostly use FB to talk to distant friends now.

i would love to tell you what i think about this 'startling revelation'.... but it just so happens that i stopped typing.... yup.... i quit.... cold turkey.... i no longer feel burdened or pressured to express my thoughts on a keyboard.... so unfortunately i can't reply.... good luck with quitting social media.... you've done a spectacular job so far....
