Since religion and flat earth appear to be converging I'd be interested to know who flat earthers who are also believers in God/Bible explain this scripture

Isaiah 40:22 King James Version (KJV)

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in

all of the languages that the Bible was translated from had separate words for "balls" and "circles".... they were not interchangeable then.... and they shouldn't be now.... plates are circles.... but they're NOT fuckin balls....

I hear you.  God is a sticky wicket for everyone.  Just God works for me.

But on the flat earth stuff, I have read that segment of the Book of Enoch where he is taken up to the heavens and the description -- as I recall something about the earth below looking like a bowl of porridge -- reads like something right out of a sci fi novel.  I have a bound copy on my bookshelf that I'm looking as just now.  I may have to pull it down and reread it.

Why isn't the book of Enoch part of the Bible canon ?

Same with the apocrypha

I read the bible cover to cover. Twice. Read these books as well. The Koran too

and all of these books, with the exception of the bible, read like a Scientology novel

as long as you have Jesus, flat earth is irrelevant.... but i'd be scared as hell explaining why  i "lived on a spinning ball and evolved from a monkey" to the Creator.... i'll let someone else tell that story....

I believe that it was the Council of Chalcedon in the 400s where the official canon of Christianity was finalized.  I could be wrong on that.  Rome was still going strong then and they had gone Christian just the century before, so being Romans, they wanted everything orderly and official.

I don't know why some texts were canonized and others were not.  The Book of Enoch is certainly at least as old as Old Testament texts like Isaiah or Genesis, but some fat Roman might have found it too outlandish to include.

Well yeah. It doesn't say sphere.

So flat earthers believe the planet is a disc?

And what about the other planets. Why are they spheres?

it absolutely doesn't say "sphere" anywhere.... the only time that shape is implied, they use the word for "circle".... and the "other planets" are lights in the sky.... the only time they look like anything but lights, is in a nasa cartoon.... even if they were anything else, we can't go beyond the firmament....
