But now reality is setting in and you realize Canada is expensive, so you are looking at places all over the world where your inheritance can be stretched.

You should have planned better, Senile Joe.

The U.S. State Department on Thursday issued a worldwide alert to Americans overseas due to the potential for terrorist attacks, coming in the midst of heightened tensions in the Middle East due to the Israel–Hamas conflict.

"Due to increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests, the Department of State advises U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution," the alert said.
It then advised U.S. citizens to remain alert in locations frequented by tourists, enroll in the agency's travel program, and follow the agency on social media to receive alerts and updates. Other details were not provided.

I'd still feel safer in the Middle East than I would in Detroit.

I lived in the Middle East for a long time. I have been to Detroit. You would not be safer in Islamic lands.

There have been thousands of information technology employees working as contractors in the U.S. who have reportedly been sending millions of dollars from their earnings to North Korea for the country's ballistic missile program, according to the FBI and Department of Justice.

The Justice Department stated on Wednesday that there have been a number of IT workers secretly working for North Korea who work remotely with U.S. companies in St. Louis and elsewhere. These employees have apparently been using fake identifications in order to get the jobs in question.

Business Insider reported that the authorities have seized more than $1.5 million and 17 domain names as part of the ongoing investigation. Jay Greenberg, a special agent who is the head of the St. Louis FBI office, said that one company hired freelance IT employees who were likely involved in the scheme.

Rebecca Wu, spokesperson for the FBI, said that "[w]e can tell you that there are thousands of North Korean IT workers that are part of this." FBI officials say that the scheme is widespread, suggesting that companies need to be vigilant about who they hire.

A prominent Detroit synagogue president was found stabbed to death outside of her home on Saturday morning. Michigan authorities are urgently attempting to piece together the facts of the apparent murder, and determine the motive for the tragic killing.

Police found multiple stab wounds on a lifeless body that led to a trail of blood leading to the victim's home – where police believe the crime was committed, Detroit deputies said in an email.

Michigan authorities identified the victim as 40-year-old Samantha Woll. Authorities pronounced Woll dead at the scene at around 6.30 a.m. on Saturday.

Was this murder related to events in Israel and Gaza? I don't know.

That would be very likely. And while I don't want to cast blame the city of Dearborn Michigan, home to the largest Muslim population per capita in the nation, happens to be nine miles away.

And according to Dove who lives near Dearborn, there are more than a few people with extremist sympathies.

A new travel requirement for Americans visiting most European countries was delayed again to sometime in 2025, officials said.

The requirement involves an online travel authorization through the European Travel Information and Authorization System, or ETIAS, and it applies to the visitors of 30 European countries. That includes popular destinations such as France, Spain, Germany, Greece, Italy, and Portugal.

Now, the system "will be ready to enter into operation in Spring 2025," said a brief announcement after a meeting of the Council of the European Union earlier this month. "The new roadmap for the delivery of the new IT architecture foresees that the Entry/Exit system will be ready to enter into operation in Autumn 2024," it also said.

The system, meanwhile, will register the information and biometric data of travelers. That includes face scans and fingerprints, while stamp passports will be phased out.

This system, elaborated the European Union's site, "will replace the current system of manual stamping of passports, which is time-consuming, does not provide reliable data on border crossings, and does not allow a systematic detection of over-stayers."

Travelers will have to fill out an ETIAS application form before traveling and pay a $7 fee. However, some applications may take several weeks if additional information is needed from the traveler, while some may have to obtain an interview, according to the EU website.
