The United Methodist Church is currently in the process of splintering, as 7,000 congregations across the country have decided whether or not to stay or depart from the denomination.

The intra-church dispute comes as many congregations have decided to back out of the denomination after years of theological debate about the role of LGBTQ people within the church, according to the Associated Press.

While the United Methodist Church has banned same-sex marriage and outlawed openly LGBTQ clergy, many congregations within the denomination have theologically taken issue with this position. Amid the battle within the denomination, a number of conservatives have decided to create the Global Methodist Church.

Theologically progressive Christians who decided to stay with the United Methodist Church are expected to try and remove the ban at the next General Conference, which is scheduled for the spring of 2024.

Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has been accused of sexual assault by a woman who claims the rocker attacked her 20 years ago.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by The Blast, the woman — identified as Jane Doe — says in February of 2003, she was lured under "false pretenses" to ride in Tommy Lee's personal helicopter. The 40-minute trip consisted of a ride from San Diego to Van Nuys, with his personal helicopter pilot.

In the filing, the woman claims after take-off the two men consumed several alcoholic beverages, smoked marijuana, and snorted cocaine. She added, "Tommy Lee then proceeded to sexually assault [her] by forcibly groping, kissing, penetrating her with his fingers, and attempting to force her to perform oral copulation."

As a result of Tommy Lee's assault, the victim says she has suffered severe emotional, physical, and psychological distress.

The former mayor of an Illinois town reportedly allowed prostitution to operate out of a local strip club in exchange for money. The brother of the former mayor was recently convicted for his part in what the authorities said was a scheme that spanned years.

The former mayor of Harvey, Illinois, Eric Kellogg, was not named in federal documents, and he has apparently not been charged, according to NBC News.

However, his brother Rommell, 71, was found guilty on five counts on Monday, including "conspiracy to commit theft and intimidation and causing the use of facilities in interstate commerce to promote theft and intimidation," according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

"Each count of conviction is punishable by up to five years in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman did not immediately set a sentencing date," the release continued.

A new agreement between Germany and Lithuania will lead to German troops' first permanent foreign deployment since World War II.

German troops, including those with families, will be stationed in the Lithuanian cities of Kaunas and Vilnius beginning in 2024, with most troops deployed in 2025 and 2026 and full-operation capability expected by 2027. In turn, Lithuania has committed to providing all necessary civilian and military infrastructure.

The agreement between Germany and Lithuania will see 4800 German soldiers stationed in Lithuania.

Former NFL player Mike Williams died from a rare form of sepsis related to dental health problems, according to a medical examiner's report released Friday.

Williams, 36, died Sept. 12 after being hospitalized following a construction accident while working as an electrician.

The wide receiver played four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he was drafted out of Syracuse in 2010. His best season was as a rookie when he led the team with 11 touchdowns and had 964 receiving yards. Charlie Sheen was attacked by his neighbor inside his Malibu home, according to police.

Around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to "a battery/disturbance call" at Sheen's residence in Malibu, California.

TMZ reported that the female suspect "ripped Charlie's shirt and attempted to strangle him ... and then went back to her own house."

After the purported attack on the Hollywood star, the suspect returned to her home, according to police.
