Ajunior hockey player was suspended for five games for referring to an opposing player as a Mennonite and therefore violating the league's rules on provocation.

20-year-old Landon Sim of the London Knights was issued the five-game suspension for "marginalizing" an opponent on both "religious and cultural grounds," the Ontario Hockey League found.

The OHL is in the Canadian Hockey League, which is comprised of several leagues across Canada (Western, Ontario, and Quebec) and is considered the top-tier of junior hockey in the world.

On November 6, Sim was ejected with a game misconduct for his violation during a 5-1 win against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Quebec orders audits at 17 schools over alleged behaviour 'contrary to Quebec values'

Complaints and reports have been brought to the attention of the (Education Department) regarding issues related to non-compliance with secular obligations," the Education Department said in a statement. "Many citizens responded to the call to inform the government of any situation where behaviour contrary to the values of Quebec society is observed.

Questions around religious neutrality in schools have been swirling since the publication last month of an Education Department report on a school in Montreal, where media reports had exposed questionable religious practices and a toxic climate. A government investigation found that a "dominant clan" at Bedford school imposed strict, autocratic rule over students.

The investigation revealed that the teachers, who were allegedly influenced by the local mosque, subjected children to physical and psychological abuse. There were incidents of prayers in the classroom and some teachers allegedly refused to teach — or paid little attention to — the science and sex education curriculum.

Eleven teachers — a mix of men and women — were described as being part of a "dominant clan" at the school. They have been suspended with pay and their teaching licences were suspended pending a full investigation.

People rejoice as Pluto enters Aquarius for the first time in over 200 years

People on the web are rejoicing as Pluto is set to enter Aquarius for the first time in over 200 years, bringing a wave of rejuvenation and transformation.

For the first time since 1778, Pluto, which is known as the planet of destruction, death and rebirth, will make its way into the eleventh sign.

Pluto will head into Aquarius on November 19 and won't exit until March 8, 2043.

The shifting of the planet has sparked a wave of happiness as zodiac enthusiasts are certain positivity is written in the stars for the next 20 years.

The last time that Pluto was in Aquarius was from 1778 to 1798.

During this time, the world experienced the French, American, Haitian, and Industrial Revolutions.

It was also the time of the Age of Enlightenment, which emphasized the importance of science and reason over faith and superstition.

This period of time was known for the many social hierarchies that were dismantled and the stark resistance against powers.

It also marked a period of great imagination, with the hot air balloon, sewing machine, smallpox vaccine and parachute all being invented.

The Simpsons voice actor Pamela Hayden has announced her retirement from the hit Fox sitcom after 35 years.

Hayden, who's credited for featuring in nearly 700 episodes of the long-running animated series, is best known as the voice behind Bart Simpson's bespectacled friend Milhouse Van Houten; however, she's also played dozens of other characters, including Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders and Malibu Stacy.

Jussie Smollett's conviction for his headline-grabbing hate crime hoax has been dismissed.

The Illinois Supreme Court on Thursday — in what WLS-TV said was a "surprising" 5-0 decision — ruled that an agreement between the former "Empire" actor and Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx to drop criminal charges in exchange for a fine and community service should have stood.

It figures. It is Illinois.

His acting career is still in the toilet so that is some sort of justice.

The U.S. Capitol Police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt on January 6 once fired his service weapon at fleeing vehicles near his home while his neighbor was in the line of fire, a congressional oversight committee reported.

Michael L. Byrd was promoted from lieutenant to captain in 2023 despite a "significant" history of referrals to the Capitol Police Office of Professional Responsibility, said U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), chairman of the Committee on House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight.

The records of three disciplinary cases against Byrd are missing, according to Loudermilk. "This is disappointing, as the inability to locate these documents hinders the subcommittee from fulfilling its responsibility to conduct comprehensive oversight over the USCP," Loudermilk wrote in a Nov. 20 letter to Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger.

Younger ACLU cohorts that had traditionally supported free speech, academia, journalism, publishing, ACLU librarianship, etc, every indication, including surveys, show that the younger you get, the less supportive people are of classical free speech values.

You might be willing to help someone learn French, but not if it means paying thousands of dollars and the person doesn't actually learn French.

Ottawa's politicians need to hear your message and cut spending at Rideau Hall and there's no better time than now.

Here's the latest ridiculous bill Governor General Mary Simon handed taxpayers: $34 000 for 228 hours of French lessons!

Let's be clear: it's fine if Mary Simon wants to learn French.

But there are two problems:

First, she decided to send you the bill, when she easily could have paid for her lessons out of her $362,000 taxpayer-funded salary.

Second, Simon still can't say more than a few words in French. In fact, she avoids press events in French altogether.

It's gotten to the point where she had to cut short her recent visit to Quebec City because she could only say one sentence in French, according to media reports.

Billing taxpayers for 228 hours of lessons without showing any results is not good value for money.

And there's a long list of wasteful spending from the governor general's office: $71,000 for limousines in Iceland, $100,000 for airplane food on one trip, a $150,000/year lifetime pension and $117,000 in dry-cleaning.

The governor general's office keeps wasting your money, with no accountability for taxpayers.

It is spare change compared to the waste at the federal level in Ottawa. And that pales in comparison to the waste in Washington.

The World's Longest Building Project in Manhattan: The "Big Bend" Skyscraper

The Big Bend which is set to be constructed in Manhattan, New York, will become the world's longest building. This upcoming building will span 4,000 feet in a single continuous upside-down U shape as reported by The US Sun.

The unusual design of the building was created in order to circumvent the existing planning regulations that are very strict.

Currently, the real estate developers are taking advantage of a planning law that is in place. This law permits them to buy air rights from the surrounding buildings. Having its curved design, the "Big Bend" will be able to occupy more air space without necessarily having to incur additional costs for its overall height.

This innovative shape is quite an advantage in that it allows developers and constructors to build taller buildings on smaller plots. This therefore cuts down their overall costs.

Furthermore, it is also quite important to note that this building has been designed by the company Oiio in partnership with the designer Ioannis Oikonomou.

"In case we manage to bend our building structure, instead of bending the zoning rules of New York, it is undebatable that we will construct the most prestigious building in Manhattan", Oikonomou stated.
