Why you can't buy a small pickup anymore because of stupid government regulations.

I did  not know this.

Blazor

Ya know, I knew it had to do with government regulations, but wasnt sure how exactly. This explained it pretty good.

I really miss the small Jeeps. Like the Daihatsu Rocky, the Geo Tracker, the Suzuki Samurai, or even an actual small Jeep! The first 3 got over 30mpg. Thats pretty good if ya ask me.

If Jeep simply gave us a basic, aluminum body, 4 banger with turbo, 2 door, no fancy electronic shit, and small like my Jeep or a CJ, they would sell like hotcakes. That Rocky was damn good, and it was all manual, even the steering lol. Would go anywhere! Fully capable!

I also miss the small trucks like dude talked about. My Son and I love the old S10s and old Toyotas. He jus sold an old 4 door S10 Blazer.

Vehicles like I listed, go for a lot of money these days, when not long ago you could get them cheap.

Manufacturers dont pay the penalties, customers do. Thats why my factory build race car had a $2000+ gas guzzler charge on it. People like me will pay that shit on a race car, but I sure AF wont pay it on a mini truck.

Thiel

There are still small trucks, but not as many as twenty five years ago.

I blame Obama. All roads lead back to him.

They are big now!!!

Compared to their earlier models anyway. No thank you.

Yep.  So for instance, Ford would've had to pay a higher penalty on this 5.0 shorty, than they would had it been the typical SuperCrew version you'll likely see on the dealers lot.

Which as Thiel stated, just gets passed down to me in the end, the customer.

All of those except Santa Cruz are mid size trucks.  The Ford Maverick is the first compact available in years yet it is much larger than the old trucks from the 1970's and 1980's.
