What kind of hound is that?

 Eddie is a Pit/Lab mix. He is a tank of a dog too. VERY strong.

 He is 9 years old now too so he is getting old for a dog but he still plays and runs and "acts young".  I give him chews for his joints and I try not to encourage him not to jump up in our bed as much  (that jump down cant be good for him)

I could see some of those two breeds. That is a good mix. The power of a pitbull with the intelligence of a retriever.

Yes he is very strong. Playing with him can get painful. If he bites too hard and you yell, he stops immediately and goes down and submits. But he could rip your arm out of its socket during tug of war when he starts shaking the toy back and forth.

We dont take him to dog parks, or Petco, or groomers or let strangers meddle with him at all. Not because we think he will bite...but more because IF he does it will be a devastating level of damage.

I HATE most pit bull owners. I joined a group for pit owners and ended up leaving out of pure disgust. People sharing photos of their small children laying all over the dogs with their faces right by the dogs faces (which shouldn't be allowed with ANY dog) and posting captions like "Oooo my big scary, viscious monster dog!" Like the 60 precent fatal dog attack stats are a joke. 

My dog has been an angel for 9 years. We joke he got the looks of a pit bull but the soul of a lab. I would never go claiming pit bulls are not dangerous because of my one good dog.

I honestly would like to see regulations on them just due to how often these dogs end up loose running the streets and mauling humans and small animals. People should have to get permits, pass housing inspections, have behavioral evaluations for the first few years and only get them from liscenced breeders.

Our shelters are flooded with pits and pit mixes. The occasional husky....German shepard...a few chihuahuas...and the rest are all pits and pit mixes. Its ridiculous.

They are currently very popular among assholes who are too poor, too delusional and too irresponsible to have any dog, let alone a powerful and dangerous breed of dog.

We didnt know Eddie was mixed with a pit bull until he got older. My man was told he was a "lab mut" and didnt ask a lot of questions. Eddies mom was taken in to a rescue when she was pregnant so....no one knew. He looked nothing like a bully breed until he started growing up and the vet broke the news that he is definitely a pit bull mix. 

He was never intended to be a family dog, so my man wasn't very bent up over it. He is a really really GOOD dog though. Absolutely no aggression, no resource guarding. No whale eyeing. No challenging our authority. Just a great dog.

 Squish walking our child mauler 3 thousand and handling him like a pro.

 We have a "shock resistant" double handled leash and a collar with a handle on it and she knows how to use them.

 It helps that Eddie is very well trained and well mannered. As soon as we hold the second handle he mellows out and just trots next to us. She knows to hold it anytime another person or person with a dog is passing on the other side.

 She never goes alone, im always there and able to grab in case anything suddenly goes wild.

 Im proud of how well she handles animals and does so properly. Ive had her exposed to animals all her life. She will not hesitate to correct anyone on proper animal care or handling.

 Like my little suburban Bindi Irwin lol 

 If anyone ever approached my daughter with ill intent, I have zero doubt that Eddie would become a headline. I think he senses evil too. He never growls or lunges or shows any aggresion ever. But one day when I had him on our 4 mile jog, we sat under the tree for water and a rest, some man walked past on the other side of the street and Eddie locked his eyes on THIS man and his hair rose on his back and started rumbling (low growl) 

 And its easy to blame his pit bull blood....but he NEVER does that. He hasnt done it since, either. So I have to conclude there was something off with that guy that made my dog uneasy. He didnt lunge or bark. Just watched and rumbled until the man was out of sight. He did NOT like that man.

 He is trained to obey, not protect. But he likes to keep things in order and i feel safer with him around.

Eddie is a beautiful dog.
