I would point out that:
1. Israel offered them a two state solution multiple times and they refused.
2. Israel left them up to their own devices, even allowing them to elect a terrorist group as their leaders which oppressed the fuck outta them. Hey, they chose it tho!

If you want to get technical, most liberal democracies do not call themselves that.

It is things like the rule of law, an independent judiciary, a non politicized military and a guarantee of liberties like our Charter of Rights or the US Constitution that define us.
