Quote from: JOE on February 02, 2024, 01:02:36 PMActually Lokmeer I think commodities will be the place to invest over the next decade.

One big reason is there's not enough of them to meet world demand. And that includes silver I should think since it is also an industrial metal not just for coins and jewelry. Copper seems good too. Lithium as well. Also the supply of platinum is uncertain and a large number of these elements reside in nations where the political situation is uncertain or else they have somewhat frosty relations with the US.

And it isn't just the political relations between China and the US that are on edge. It's their fight or competition for the remaining supply of the most coveted natural resources.

A battleground for these resources is places like South America which is rich in lithium and copper. China really wants to make inroads there and take over to feed their industrial machine.

Western Australia, my state supplies the worlds lithium demands.... probably copper too.....lol

There is a shit load of it here too. Like all natural resources in this country, urban Canadians would rather other countries rip open their land to produce the shit.

Actually I think most of the supply comes from Chile and Argentina, caskur.

But I'm sure Australia has its fair sure and makes up a good portion of it.

The united states has mountains of copper. When you drive through the rockies, you literally see the green rocks that make up several mountains thousands of feet tall. The US dont like raping its earf tho!

Quote from: JOE on February 03, 2024, 10:22:03 PMIf you really did blow $100,000 + on a car, that's a lotta dough down the drain imho Prowler.

Says the guys who also posts videos of cars costing over a million dollars while praising the owners.

Why such a hypocrite, Senile Joe?

Hahaha!!!!

Quote from: JOE on February 03, 2024, 10:22:03 PMI think Oerdin echoed that sentiment as well.

So what?

He is entitled to his opinion.  I mean, if he wants a real argument, he can do his best to let me know how better to use that money.

Quote from: JOE on February 03, 2024, 10:22:03 PMHowever, I admit I've blown my share recently on stupid things.

ie - I recently paid $7200 US + taxes shipping on a collector comic book.
Journey into Mystery #83 - the first appearance of Thor (1962).

initially I thought "I made a mistake like omigod, what have I bought?! What a stupid thing I've done." However, incredulously, the auction house I bought it from asked me if I wanted to sell it back to 'em. Turns out, it actually retails for $9,000-10,000 on eBay.  eg - this guy wants over $10,000 US or $14,000 Canadian for it and it has 114 people watching/wanting it.

Apparently, the Thor franchise is still goin' strong and Marvel is set to release its 5th movie of the Mighty Thor.

Still, People will actually pay that much money for an item made on the cheapest newsprint of its time that used to sell for 12 cents at the newstand. Actually I can't believe it. Yet If I'm a sucker than there's even bigger suckers than me who'll pay more.

so, while admittedly I spend money on foolish buys, at least I can find a buyer for 'em.

Not sure if I'm gonna hang onto it. Fo sho it was a foolish buy, but at least I can sell it back for the price or more than I paid for it.

I call that an example of  - "don't buy what ya can't resell."

Or in other words, ifya pay big money for things, make sure ya get big money back.

Cover yer B-hind, eh.

I can afford to buy things for pleasure, Senile Joe, and not care if I get any money back for them.

And since you seem to care about what other people think, like the way you care about Oerdin's opinion....

Most people buy things for pleasure, Senile Joe, and do not care if they get any money back for them.

You miserable tightwad.

Senile Joe talks and talks, but the real way to invest in lithium is to buy shares of mining companies.

He would fuckin' blow a gasket if he know how much stock I have in Rio Tinto.

Tho I've chauffeured some very wealthy and influential people in the world, in all honesty I don't like cars much Prowler.

I could buy your car but it'd be a true waste of money.

Could I re-sell it for the price I paid? Probably not.

You spend $100,000 on a car then come to resell it, get only $50,000 back for it at most. Maybe just $30,000. That's a huge amount of money down the drain imho

But each according to his own they say.

I've spent a lotta money on collectibles and gold through the years that I could re-sell back for at least $100,000 USD Lokmeer.

Some of it really appreciated in value. Worth 10x more than I paid for them.

I generally don't spend/spluge on things which can't be re-sold later for at least break even.

The stuff I own is very saleable and could be sold for at least the amount I paid for them. I try to stay away from things that depreciate.

I buy collectibles & junk, but I also buy gold too. Probably 5 x as much gold than collectibles. Actually I might have too much gold.

Gold can always be sold and is redeemable for cash, Lokmeer.

I bought 2 of these recently Lokmeer:

Paid over $3000 US each. A bit over $6,000 for 2.

Close to 1.5 ounces of gold in each set.

Mintage was only 750. So I own 1/375th of the production for that year, eh?

I could buy more sets if I want as I know where to get em.

Good value, because they sell in canada for close to face value.

And the government doesn't tax them here because at 99.99% they're considered pure gold, eh.

thing is, they actually sell for $5000 US in your country.
and I'm not sure if they tax gold bullion in the US or not.

Here's a set listed on eBay:

You 'mericans jes love our coins and our gold...Lokmeer!

At very least I could sell it to you guys, Bud.

Like I said, don't buy em fi ya can't sell em for what ya paid for em.

Like Prowler's car or your bullets, eh?
