We DO have laws and regulations. The only ones who mind them are law abiding citizens, Joe.

It's not legal to just start shooting people, does that ever stop shooters? Why would gun laws stop them?

"Well I had no problem breaking the law to gun down a classroom of my peers....but I just can't bring myself to break gun regulation laws!"

 See how nutty that is?

Gun laws don't bother people like that kid and his family. Laws didn't stop THEM.  Laws stop families like MINE who respect the law. So it would just further disarm US. Not ant shooters.

If that wacko can bring a gun to school to harm and kill...MY daughters should be able to have one too so they can defend themselves. It's not legally for a teen to bring a gun to school though....so guess which one WONT have a gun? My daughter. Who respects the law. That psycho pre pubescent Micheal Myers will still bring his and be able to just pick off classmates without a single fear of return fire. Is that fair?
Joe can't afford a gun. He is jealous of the Canadians and Americans who can.

In many countries there are gun restrictions placed on the mentally ill. Switzerland does not allow them to own firearms and their murder rate is a fraction of the USA & Canada. Switzerland also has a thriving gun culture with more guns per capita than Canada.

Thats what I just said, josephine.

He 100% without a doubt died of a drug overdose.  He was complaining he couldn't breath long before the officer tried to subdue him for freaking out and not following lawful orders also, no, the knee was not on his neck for 9 minutes.  You need to learn to watch the body camera footage and think critically instead of simply regurgitating false propaganda.

The man killed himself by swallowing his own stash and then the jury was intimidated into ignoring the evidence out of fear.

If you want to "think critically" I would advise you to read your own post aloud and think about it. Critically. You just buried your own fucking argument.

you said "he was complaining of being unable to breathe long before the officer tried to subdue him" so basically you are admitting this man was under duress and clearly articulated such to Derrick Chauvin. Telling him clearly as YOU Pointed out "I cant breathe"

so I'm going to make this really simple for you in the form of a multiple choice question so you cant isolate the answer most correct as a response by a public safety servant to a situation such as this

suspect just swallowed an entire bag full of drugs, he is screaming and acting erratic possibly due to the panic brought on by central nervous stimulants in his body. He complains to you that he cannot breathe. In order to fufill your role as a PUBLIC SAFETY SERVANT which in fact involves the safety of the surrounding public, yourself, your fellow officers AND the suspect you are trying to apprehend you do one of the following.

A) Place the suspect in a position further restricting airflow face down with his hands behind his back and further compound an already dire situation for him by putting your knee on his neck for 9 minutes while ignoring his pleas and the pleas of the public around you to let the man breathe.

B) B you walk your fucking dog

C) what's for breakfast

D) You take into consideration that YOU and 4 other officers backing you up on the scene are armed with a multitude of tools to properly subdue hostile subjects and proceed to act like a fucking human being or at a minimum a public safety servant and place this man on his side, hands cuffed in front of him and place his arms around a stationary object IF you truly feel he is that much of a clear and present danger to the public around him.

Now, let's compare what Chauvin did to what the definition of manslaughter is

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manslaughter

No sir, I believe it is YOU who should learn to think critically instead of gobbling up ultra right conspiracy theories and defense attorney narratives. Bro, you're basically saying here and now if I push a person who I know does not know how to swim into a swimming pool and walk away I am not at all culpable for their death because it was the water that killed them.

Hello, are you home?

looking at the video it sure looks like Chuavin's knee is on Floyd's neck to me.. if you think otherwise might I suggest a basic human anatomy course for your review?

It's narratives like this that hurt us conservatives and give race hustlers the ammunition they need to call us racists and rally otherwise good, wholesome and moral Christians of a darker skin color against us

it's fucking pathetic

No one on this site interacts more with the black community than I.. neither here nor the wannabe race hustlers at barnyard farms dot com who think attending a blm rally puts them in the thick of the struggle. *spits* clowns. And I have argued plenty a time on behalf of George zimmerman -- why? Because that was a clear cut and dry case of self defense. Period. They argue back but respect me because they see that I am a straight shooter who will examine the FACTs of the particular case and render an opinion based solely on that.

I wouldn't have such respect if I merely followed the right wing narrative on matters such as these where we would seek to let this man walk free after a video showing the events unfold in real time clearly shows he had culpability in the man's death? Whether negligent or deliberate it was indeed manslaughter NOT 1st degree, NOT 2nd degree murder but Manslaughter

and had the prosecutor sought 2nd or 1st degree I would have voted to acquit had I been on the jury but Manslaughter? You bet your ass I'd be in there voting to convict

and I ain't afraid of any of those corny mobs.  So no, I'm not buying the intimidation factor either.

Oerdin

I am saying O.D.ing on fentanyl makes people stop breathing.  He swallowed his stash and killed himself.  The officer, who was a rookie, did exactly what the academy trained him to do which is to restrain and handcuff an uncooperative suspect who was being lawfully detained for committing a felony.None of those police did anything wrong.

I think people should spend at least 3 years in the Armed Forces before being able to own a gun avatar_Dove ove

Just like it was in the good old days.

Back then if Uncle Sam or the Canadian government shoved a gun in a guy's gut, he was expected to go to War.

And if he survived the War, he was taught hard discipline and respect. 3, 4, 5 years of harsh military training. Hard Time in the Military got them a gun.

That's what they do in places like Switzerland.

Yeah, the guv gives a guy a gun, but then he is expected to serve time in the Military. And their Murder rate is way lower than the USA or Canada because it teaches them about responsibility.

As the saying goes,"with Great Power comes Great Resonsibility."

None of this bullshit about giving ANYONE a gun just because they can afford it.

Dove

So again Joe...let's make sure only criminals are armed.

That way no one can defend themselves and no one will care about shootings anymore.

Bro -- you just told me you have no idea what the facts of this case are

Derrick Chauvin was a police officer for 19 years.

If you think that makes him a "rookie" then we should just stop having this conversation right now

but you see Dove, when you have people saying the parents did nothing wrong or that criminal police officers should go free after committing murder on camera it hurts us all. Because it gives the left the exact types of narratives they need to turn otherwise level headed people against us.

Then you wind up with the hair-brain ideas Joe is espousing here

That being the case, it's too late for America avatar_Dove ove.

Unlike Switzerland, you guys didn't do it right.

You might think I'm anti-gun, but actually I support a LIMITED form of gun ownership
ie - being able to arm one's self in one's own home LICENSED & TRAINED, particularly if it's a dangerous neighborhood

But I don't support people carrying guns in the streets or anyone under age owning them.

America doesn't want just anyone flying a plane Untrained & Unlicensed, so why it extend this courtesy to gun owners?

Honeybuch, your posts are a separate issue and not pertinent to the case in Michigan.

You are still a good lay though. :wub1:

JOE

There ought to be a longer period towards attaining fully licensed gun ownership.

A graduated gun licensing program.

Maybe 5 years & an ongoing licensing maintenance/renewal after that.

That is, the person actually demonstrates they not only able to handle a gun, but are also law abiding citizens of good standing without criminal records and mental illness. And the police can always check on them, even confiscate the weapons and take away their licenses if they break the law. And the gun owner has gone through an extended period where they can gain the public's trust to be able to own and store guns.

I know people here don't like that, but guns are dangerous instruments.

It's similar to lethal chemicals - the government doesn't grant everyone that privilege to handle them for industrial purposes
They have to write exams, demonstrate that they are mentally fit and law abiding before they are allowed to.

The same with being granted a license to fly a plane. If the government thinks a guy is a terrorist who's gonna ram a plane into buildings, they don't let them have it.
